  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
(New here...reservation for a Traveler+Harvester...hi!)

This sums up my circumstances well. I have a 4th Gen Expedition with 90k miles and road trip often with two younger kids. We also do a fair bit of camping and I just don't see how a pure EV would handle a 300 mile drive to a campsite, then a 4-day sit at the camp with doors opening and closing all the time (with dome lights coming on), then a 300 mile return trip.

I understand charging tech and infrastructure have come a long way, and will come even further by the time these vehicles come out. But with two kids and dogs, I don't want the hassle of having to worry about where the next charger is going to be and is it the right kind of charger and will it be working and how long will it take to charge and and and.

I believe we will eventually get to a place where chargers will be as ubiquitous as gas stations, but it won't be in the next 10 years. I like the knowledge that I can load the car and just go and not worry about how I'm going to get
I would suggest to keep looking into what owning an EV would be like in your real life situations. From what I read above, this scenario works within the EV structure. Close to the end of your 300 mile journey, you charge for 15-20 minutes. Grab some last minute snacks and supplies for the campsite and head on to your campsite. At the end of your camping head out and plan to have a full charge around lunch break.

As a current Tesla owner, I have no problem with driving a full EV vehicle, but I reserved a harvester as a security blanket until I see what the state of the nations charging network looks like in three years. Right now, I wouldn’t drive any EV other than a Tesla, at least for my needs, which involves regular long distance driving.
