1,000+ reservations take rate stats: Harvester vs. Full-EV and Traveler vs. Terra

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
No doubt about that! That’s one of the best benefits of the EV platform. So few moving parts to break. But, I’m glad Scout introduced the Harvester to bring more people on board. The more the merrier!
Brings up interesting question whether the Harvester will experience more issues than the full-EV due to its gas engine and related parts. It's likely, just hope it's not much more issues. That's one of the things I'm glad to be ditching an ICE car for.

Same. The repair costs are staggering. I remember reading about a $50k repair/replacement bill for a Taycan owner whose battery was damaged (pierced) due to road debris, which warranty doesn't cover obviously. That's insane
Should be covered by insurance since it was damaged by road debris. No different than if debris destroyed a windshield, a bumper, a transmission, etc. Given it's a $50K repair bill that's definitely one to pass to insurance.

Interesting crowdsourced look at reservation stats from 1,000+ voluntarily submitted reservations. The Harvester is blowing away the full-EV at 81.8% take rate. 🤯 That's shocking to me. And I'd thought there'd be a higher Terra % so far.

It’s not really that surprising that the Traveler reservation % is way higher than the Terra as the Terra is too similar to the Rivian R1T to me besides the price being much more cheaper. I am also not surprised people want the Harvester option more than all EV option as the #1 issue that deters most people from buying EVs is range anxiety and the Harvester would solve that problem. I know for me, I reserved the Traveler w/ Harvester because:
1) There is no other EV SUV that looks like it and has the perfect dimension the Traveler does. It is the perfect size with an abundance of cargo storage, beautiful and practical interior and exterior styling, lots of tech and powerful drive train to name a few for the price of less than 60K.
2) There would be no range anxiety because you can get up to 500+ miles per charge with the help of a gas motor generator.

I'm not surprised by the high Harvester take rate. It's the main differentiator.

I'm not surprised more are choosing the SUV body.

For Terra, instead of Waiting 2+ years for an EV pickup from a new company, you could just buy the Ford Lightning today, which is essentially the same thing. And even for the Harvester Pickup, Ram has Ramcharger coming out next year.

Disagree with your Terra POV. Lightning is an ICE brands version of what they think an EV should be. Its so far off the mark. Building a ground up EV allows to do rethink everything. Lets hope this isnt just another F150 because if it is, its dead in the water.

What is so far off the mark?

From what I can see, the Body on frame construction of both is quite similar and they are dimensionally similar as well, and the F150 is kind of the "Bird in the Hand" right now.

Seems like a fair amount discussion of what is “needed” in these vehicles. Do people see this as a needed vehicle, i.e. a work truck that must be an EV? I will likely drive this to/from work, but i could just as easily but an ICE Hyundai for a lot less.

The Terra I reserved is for business purposes visiting construction sites, delivering parts and occasionally towing.

I’m gonna hope QUALITY will be the difference. Every American car I’ve owned has had dozens of recalls, went back under lemon law or had parts and pieces fail just after 1-year (‘23 Bronco). If SM can build to a better quality (and without an ICE and all those parts to fail) they have a great shot at it. They have German engineering doing a lot of the test and parts designs so it should be a tank but we will know for sure once they hit the day to day real world

These days German cars, aren't exactly the reliability champs.

Scouts are engineered in Detroit and Built in SC...
Words spoken at the reveal were the VWAG engineers are also part of the process. I counted no less than 6 Germans while at the event. As a “start-up” umbrella under VWAG they would be foolish not to use that wisdom. And surely they are dipping into the parts bins (maybe not visible, but under the curtain) which are designed and engineered by the Germans

Let me add to this that two Germans said " I am a Scout". That is promising. I talked to several of them and they seemed very enthusiastic and excited to be part of the Scout revival.

So we mix German and Detroit engineering and give it to the good ol' boys in SC to build. What could go wrong? :ROFLMAO:

Scout CEO Keogh has said that Scout will use VW Group parts & components when possible.
