Will Scout ever build a competitor of the Wrangler and Bronco?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Being the owner of a 22 Gladiator, a 22 Bronco, and a 1980 Scout II, I’m more than impressed with what I’ve seen so far with the new Scouts. I honestly expected to be underwhelmed by a VW owned Scout company. I can tell they’ve been listening to the customer base and they have some people on the inside who have done actual off-roading. I’m very excited to get my hands on this thing. Can’t decide if I want the Traveler or the Terra so I reserved both.

Being a former CEO I could clearly see the hat tip in the reveal to the corporate people who have allowed this venture to go forward. You have to do that unless you are self-funded. Funding cones in stages sometimes and you have to keep going back to show the board that they’re not throwing good money after bad.

Not everything has to compete for the exact same customer as the Wrangler (and now Bronco).

While it was a big niche when it was only Wrangler. Wrangler sales will likely never return to peak with Bronco occupying the exact same space, adding other splits those sale again...

Removable roof: Meh. Fixed roof is likely going to give a quieter highway ride and be lighter weight. Open the windows, and open the sliding cloth roof and that will be plenty open air for most people and more convenient too.
Have to agree. Was initially disappointed with non-removable roof b

it certainly doesn’t hurt that Chris Benjamin came on from Jeep. Sure he learned a lot about design while there, beyond his own experiences

Not if they plan on only being e/v. They could have beat the bronco if they had given us a straight six option or an 8 cylinder with manual transmission. Then I know the bronco sales would drop. But not with this package. They come in here and insult the brand with this thing.
What the **** is this?

Is your congressman sick of hearing from you about auto manufacturers complying with the upcoming EV mandates? Mine is.

Point your energy where it can make a difference. Whining about EVs on forums and social media does nothing.

I’m curious if you own or have owned an IH Scout?

It seems like theres a split in opinion of what is important between those that have owned and those that haven’t.

Parents owned one and I drove it as a teenager. That said you need to be open minded about these new EV’s or opt for one of many ICE powered rugged SUV’s. Not everyone will be happy and/or win with the development of the new Scouts.
I will!

Long time/multiple time Jeep owner here. I think what Scout has proposed in the Traveler will be a great competitor to the Jeep. So much so I have put a deposit on a Traveler.

Even though I live in the concrete jungle I am on Jeep number 3&4. One for the woods (05 LJ) and one for daily (23 Gladiator). My take away from many miles in Jeeps is a Jeep should have a hard top and easily removable doors. You get the feeling of the out doors without the sunburns or soggy seats.

When I was in college with my first Jeep it would live with the roof and doors removed for a third of the year while the weather was right. Even then the drain plugs had to be removed and left out. Soft tops wear out, fade, leak, shrink, the list goes on. I eventually replace my soft top on that first Jeep with a used hard top and I have been on a hunt for a hard top for my LJ. Dang thinks are like hens teeth.

When I went to buy the Gladiator there was no way I was buying a soft top model. Luckily Jeep has come to the realization that hard tops sell just as good as soft tops and they are easier to come by.

My 2 cents

M
