What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Definitely a solid, insulated, reinforced roof on the Terra. Don't even bother offering an electrochromic glass option if it's not cutting UV or temps.

Bi-Directional charging is a must and not as an afterthought. 10kW or better. Publish your specs early so we know what will be compatible.

Security! Anti-theft/hack/break-in.

Squeeze as much comfort as possible out of that body on frame.

UX needs to be competitive. I don't want to suffer through 50+ updates before it becomes enjoyable to use.

Reliability: I don’t want to be making more trips for service than are necessary. For all the comparisons being made to Rivian, I don’t want it to be like Rivian or Tesla or Volkswagon in that regard. I want it to be like my Toyota, where I’m amazed at how infrequently things go wrong with it compared to the American-made cars I’ve had in my life. I maintain my cars the way they’re supposed to be maintained. I’m not neglectful. I expect something I’m putting 50 grand into to act like a $50K car and not crap out, have panels fall out, have electrical problems, engine problems, battery problems, etc. I want it to be Japanese-made solid.

Open source the software. With the zonal architecture I should be able to flash my own updates, modify things, or make sure that my driving habits are not shared with insurance companies, etc. it would allow for long term maintenance and maybe some after-market modifications to that might be surprising. Of course I would expect might void my warrantee but just having the option to look at the code would be great.

Heated and ventilated seats;

Sentry Mode, with the capability to upload video to a cloud service of my choosing while connected to Wi-Fi;

No Keys (Start and Stop the vehicle with a secure connection via a phone)

Ability to move the car forward or back in a straight line via the app (Perfect for getting my current car in and out of my garage);

Android Auto / Apple CarPlay;
I’m with you on all of these except “No Keys.” I still want physical keys as a failsafe in the event something goes wrong. It’s happened with my keyless cars: if the starter or key battery dies, your digital key or app is meaningless.

I also just dislike the idea of controlling a car with an app. I’m fine with connecting my phone to the car for CarPlay, but not to actually operate it or unlock it. I don’t want to find out SURPRISE! We got all of this user data and put it all into an insecure database and now both your phone and your car’s MAC address, passcode, and all of this stuff that’s made it very much possible for some rando to remote start your car and drive it into a cement pillar has indeed happened!

Baja Designes DOT Amber fog lights, Baja Designs off road lighting package, AMP power steps, lay flat extremely comfortable seats so we can sleep in the Traveler when needed, ability to install a mid sized refrigerator/freezer that won’t kill the battery

That’s a start 🤣🤣

IIRC I saw a built in compressor in the frunk - not sure how much air it moves - which is a big deal for some off roaders (I have a dual ARB in my LJ, and it is slow compared to a CO2 tank. What I did not see is a hose - but that is easy if the quick disconnect is universal. Any air compressor is better than no air compressor for most people, but you will never be able to satisfy everyone.

My daughter had Bronco -‘23. An update issue with phone key and remote start created an issue where her alarm would go off like 3-4 times in an hour. She had to disable so it would stop. The issue was reading that her hood release was activated so it read as a vehicle theft. Was super annoying. Disabling it meant no more phone key. Another reason for a physical key

Just reserved and joined tonight.

But I don’t see removable hardtop as an option
Sorry, realized maybe you weren’t joking. No removable top. The size of the vehicle makes it too heavy for average people to get it off without damaging it. The cabana top is a decent compromise and it is a HUGE opening.

The reinforced hard top on my LJ weights about 175lbs with the platform removed first. It is a bit of a hassel to get on and off even with a second adult helping. I am sure I could build a hoist - but honestly I don't really need to remove it. I got it on, that was enough. I did need to break the seal on it once - that was "difficult". Sadly I forget why I needed to do it - possibly running wiring or something else like that.

I would really hate to see what a similar top for the Scout might weigh in at.

Especially with the pano roof as one of the SM folks at the reveal comments the glass it VERY thick. Probably to stiffen overall roof since no cross rail between pano

So, I have an illness that sometimes requires multi-day infusions of steroids and I’m good at making friends…

There are some comfort creatures that I have grown to love in current cars.

Adaptable headlights, rain sensing wipers, heated and ventilated seats.

But one feature I love is simply being able to walk away from the car and it automatically locking.

What feature would you like to see?
Make sure you include the fold down second row seat. The seat could be made as a split seat, and this would offer additional seating and storage. My Scout also has a metal plate on back of seat to protect seat from cargo damage. See attachments:

J Alynn, If that is the excuse they used for no removeable top, I am throwing BS flags right and left. If I can remove and replace the one-piece steel travel top on my '78 Scout BY MYSELF without damaging the roof or the vehicle, then I can manage. Even if I couldn't, removing the top is always at the owner's risk and it's never necessary to remove if you aren't comfortable (or below average).

Can we call simplicity and longevity a feature? All the faff is fun but it’s not in the spirit of scout imo.

I want to put a fisher plow on it. Please make the front frame accessible to front mount accessories!!!
