What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

That made me think -regarding service, how do techs enter a vehicle if no key fobs. Do they have a master signal? Do you have to open for them when they arrive? Just wondering
I dropped mine last week for 1year service. They pulled the mini key out of my fob and handed my key ring back. Which also made me wonder how they accessed my car since I thought fob had a signal to allow car to unlock???

My BMW has key fobs that are required for service. I have seen the service advisor plug the fob into some sort of interface reader at his desk. I usually do not carry the fob and only use my phone.

Ok. But based on that thinking a fob of some kind would need to come with the vehicle and the phone app/activity bracelet/band would be an accessory (like Landrover)
Thinking similar to this idea, after 25 years of being married I swapped my metal band about 3 months ago for silicone (love it by the way). While various sizes would be needed a silicone ring with the reader in it would be cool. Maybe more for men than women but to have my wedding band open my car door-I always have that on 😀

I don’t know that I am a typical woman with typical woman tastes (I enjoy a hot drink from Starbucks, but if you gave me a Pandora bracelet, I’d probably knife you), but I’d wear a silicone ring. For one thing, that’s in league with secret decoder rings from the ads in the backs of comic books. For another, they’re a bit more comfortable to wear.

I don’t speak for all women, but I think it could happen if they look cute enough.

The key card that Rivian has is a good work around to this as well. It can always be in your wallet/purse, and handed to service department/valet etc. as leave. It doesn't take up any space in your front pocket like a fob would.

That’s the trick-making them look cute/appealing. I can’t say my pack of 6 silicone rings for 9.99 are that appealing but they accomplish what I wanted. I think the active wrist band is creative but I wouldn’t wear it everyday and would be wishing I had a fob 🤣.

I can't wear rings in general - makes my fingers feel weird. I'm being reminded of the Road ID options for runners. I have one of the silicone wristbands for my ID but they have options that can go on the watchband you already have, or on a necklace, or on your shoelaces. I don't know what kind of space the fob-equivalent would require for the Scouts though

I have a key card for the sportsman’s club I belong too. That card can stay in my wallet, in my pocket and I just swing hip toward the door. Does Rivian’s card work the same? Assuming it can stay in pocke

thats a cool idea. I’d forego the ring but don’t think my wife would appreciate it🤣

I’m a sausage-finger-haver myself (but you put the right sort of decorative element and you have the equivalent of finger Spanx). I’d tend to agree that a wristband would be preferable, or integration into a watch (already being an Apple Watch user). Ideally, though, I’d be happiest with a fob. It’s most easily handed off to a valet or a friend. Maybe it says something about me as a big jerk to have this vision in my head of aspirationally going out to eat somewhere and giving the valet my ring/bracelet/necklace and the valet staring at it with a puzzled look. Then again, maybe I’m a grandma with a car from 2015 and am not giving enough credit? Maybe they’re secretly laughing at me for not handing over a card when I park because I’m some sort of time traveler from the deep past giving up a key fob?

I use the phone key most of the time and usually have the card or FOB as a back-up (in luggage for example, when traveling). I use the card & bracelet less frequently, but are great for surfing or when you want to ditch your phone for some reason.

I can't remember the last time my phone battery died, so that has just become the default for me, as the phone is normally in a pocket anyway. The card and bracelet require specific placement to unlock, then you need to "present" the key to a specific location in the vehicle to put the car into DRIVE - they require more intentional actions than the phone or key FOB, which can unlock the truck from within your pocket, with no intentional actions. If you kill the Rivian app, you can essentially block the phone key from awakening the vehicle, which is helpful in the garage or when doing stuff around your truck. https://stories.rivian.com/unlock-your-vehicle

But does the card have to work like that, or can it be designed to work more like a fob so it can stay in your pocket?

Gas engine only
Could you explain more? Curious how you’d go about changing over the entire build of the car to add all the necessary items to run an ICE. I suspect you’ll be disappointed after reading the hundreds of threads on this forum.
Ultimately if ICE is your desire you can consider the Harvester as a hybrid option or you may need to look at other options as full ICE isn’t part of the game plan

Suggested options for those wilderness and adventure runs. I was a Rivian fan preproduction but the mileage and vehicle really came up short for me on the off road front, but was a step in the right direction. I remember finding my 72 Scout II under a tarp in Big Bear CA in high school-knocked on the door and the rest was history. Took 2 years to rebuild it from the bottom up. The simplicity of the engineering was awesome, a beast of a truck and indestructible, 5” lift on 35’s, dual flow masters :), loved that truck.

Suggested options;
1. Small Built in cooler 5 gallon cooler with drain plug (front or rear)
2. Integrated off-road high-intensity lights near the roofline for off-roading and to avoid the weight of aftermarket lighting bar.
3. Harvester branded gas can & attachment option @ rear tire holder.
4. Rear tent assemble and a nod to the Westfalia camper bus, that attaches at the rear tailgate with a fold down support allowing the bed to act as a sleeper elevated from the ground to accommodate all weather conditions.
5. Solar charging kit attachment, probably won’t yield much but will offset charging of phones, walkies, flashlights and misc while camping. The solar panel kit would be ideal at the roof rack. As a daily driver it could also charge the vehicle while parked at work.

Given that many chargers are located in dark corners of parking lots, it would be nice to have a bright spot light around the charge port. it would not take much as a LED flashlight can put out 800+ lumens.

If you at photos posted the charge port is just below the side marker light and when lid is lifted the marker light still provides light. No need to worry about this. Once you see the photos you’ll understand it 😀
