The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Sad to say I’m at the Honda dealership right now trading my ‘23 Bronco Outerbanks for a Pilot. What a nightmare of a car. 1-1/2 years in-steering wheel pops every 5th or 6th time I turn it, windows all rattle (say they may have fix by end of year) and the soft top is already wearing out at the hinge fold and dealer isn’t sure Ford will cover under warranty. Finally had enough.
Hope the Scout is better built!!!

Wow! Sorry to hear this, we too have issues with the rattled window but was corrected with a code from the dealer.

Yeah. Loved the “joy” factor but the issues never stopped. We had already had it in 4 months after buying for a CAM phaser issue that required whole engine to be pulled. Last month the rear passenger window would not stay in up position. Kept auto-downing. They fixed that (code reset I’m sure) but just constant shop time. Hoping your Heritage holds up-you have one-correct?

Yes, still have the Heritage. It sounds like you drew the short stick, the Broncos have had well known issues from the windows, hard top issues, transmissions, etc. That's the risk of purchasing new models, I'm sure we'll have our fare shares of concerns with the Scouts. I'm more concerned on how they're dealt with. It's a hard place to be as a new consumer and new model.

I agree. I was prepared and I rolled with a lot but when soft top started wearing through and dealer said no TSB and worried about it happening g again I just decided to lose it. I do t want stuck paying $3-4K for new top when not even my fault. Still love it-just didn’t want stuck in a money pit. Had enough issues as a ‘23 that I feared more to come.
Have had Hondas and Acuras most my life with virtually no issues so I hope Scout is more like honda than Ford 😀

Have yet (knock on real wood dash applique in my wife's X4) to have issues with my '21 with 48k miles. Only fully opening the softtop first time just last month may have helped with no top wear.

Also it's a 2.7 slushbox. Engine was even assembled right in the middle of the valve keeper issues.

Glad it’s cooperating. Hope it cooperates for another 150K. Enjoy it!

Yep, it will have to if I expect to replace it with a new Scout - of similar size. 9 additional years will get me to the big reveal of the small Scout - if there ever is one. I won't trade my mid-size SUV for a behemoth Expedition-sized vehicle. Or even an F-150.

Same. 2022 Badlands Sasquatch 2.7l two door with lift, 37s, winch and used heavily overlanding. Working great here too.

Keeping a sharp eye on what the Scout brings though.

All I see on these forums are photos of old gasoline powered Scouts which are great. I also keep seeing on the internet that electric vehicle sales have slowed. My questions is what are you folks going to do if you produce a bunch of electric Scouts and they do not sell like the current EV's. Do you plan to produce some gasoline powered Scouts?

What @R1TVT is trying to say is this question has been asked multiple times and reading the entire thread he referenced will give you clarity. To simplify your efforts here is a synopsis:

-CEO is fully in on EV
-platform is not designed to interchange EV and ICE
-everyone is headed toward EV or alternative fuel so no reason to start a new company using dinosaur tech/thinking
-EV sales are not slowing if you do your own research or look at educated info on this forum. The media spins it that way as do politicians. Sales of EV’s are actually up year after year
-as noted, want gas-buy a vintage Scout or POS jeep or Bronco. I just traded my ‘23 Bronco due to continuous issues so I have truth in my comment based on my experience
-Rivian has posted EV experiences off-roading-they (EVs) are very capable of off-roading. Again-those scared to change believe otherwise but real world examples of success do exist.

If I missed something I’m sure someone here will chime in. We are more than 1-1/2 years in on this forum and at least 2 to 2-1/2 years into Scout/VW starting this venture. It’s full steam (electric) ahead and the trains not coming back to the station. A venture this big is not going to list fall back strategies anyway-SM believes in this and has bet the house.
Stay on the forum and learn-as I and others have or keep doubting the success that will happen and watch from the sidelines and miss out. Either way, the Scout is going to happen.
Enjoy the forum and the adventure

So is the paint shop two stories? Or is that vertical space for assembly/travel conveyors? Looks like a second floor is going in.
Also-sad to say I’ve designed new buildings that are smaller than the construction trailer commune that is on site 🤣
Looking great and really puts into perspective how large the facility really is.
Crazy!
