Testing

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Are there going to be testers. I drive in the Texas heat and put 25,000 to 30,000 miles a year on my car. It’s a 100 miles round trip to work. I’d love to do some testing and provide feedback or data analysis.

I too would love to volunteer as a tester. This would be mostly for diagnostic data collection like performance while at X elevation, ambient temp all that. And would provide some user feedback to. But will be straight up I'm not a reviewer person and not a mechanic.
But I do live near several national parks and could snap some cool pictures while I'm at it.
Tell me a picture of a Terra with some Bison off in the distance wouldn't be great.

I would not mind being a tester myself here in San Diego, I can take it to the mountains, beach, and desert over the weekend.

Would also be a great idea if the team could also invite Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) early on to do a 1:1 with the vehicles. He has great insights in to the EV Car World and tech as a whole.

I'd love the opportunity to test a unit and provide feedback as well. I live above 10k feet in the Colorado Rockies, where very few things are paved or wired for electricity, and winter is 9 months out of the year.

I can't claim anything useful for testing. I don't live anywhere extreme (unless you count rain as extreme, I'm in the PNW), and my use cases aren't extreme either.

But Scout Motors/whoever is reading if they need focus group information about mountain biking, PLEASE let me know. I am an "avid enthusiast" mountain biker who is very active on a number of forums, travels just for riding, does pedal access and lift access riding, etc (I'm at ~110k vertical feet of downhill this year so far).

(Case in point, the Traveler images with bikes on top sound like a great idea, but putting bikes on the roof of a 6ft tall SUV by yourself, is a giant pain. No one does that unless they absolutely have to, as its the worst.)

Seconding this. Roof rails are great for things like a box, or skis maybe, and perfect for kayaks, but they're a nightmare for a bike. Center of gravity is way too high, you end up balancing the bike precariously above your head, and don't get me started about the dangers of parking garages...
Hitch-mounted racks for the bikes, all day long.

I could run them through their paces in the desert 😇. Slickrock, ledges, sand, camping (towing a small camper trailer for dispersed camping).

We will be taking some forum members along for some development drives in the future similar to us taking six forum members with us to the reveal event last week. Keep the suggestions coming, be an active contributor that welcomes and helps others out and anything is possible. :D
I absolutely love this. I love seeing Scout being active in their community.

Is there anything you need help with Jamie 🤣🤣. Was fortunate enough to make the reveal so I’ve had a great experience already. Thanks again for that opportunity

And extended trailer hitch mount may be your best option.

I’ll also just put it out there that I’m a Software Test Engineer by trade so hunting for bugs and trying to break something so it can be fixed is what I do, so I would be happy to help in any capacity really.

I mean...I'm happy to do winter testing here in Canada. Just sayin'...

I'll be able to cold soak the vehicle at -30C and bury it in five feet of snow here if you want.

The number of forum users that would turn down the opportunity to be a tester is probably a number close to zero :). If they need a taster in the hills and humidity of Arkansas from someone with some original scout experience in the past, I will gladly clear some schedule.
