South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
For Tesla at least when you pick up your car a showroom rep shows you some basic features. There’s also some how to videos on your Tesla app. But folks post questions on forums or a local member will meet with the owner and help. But when well designed most features are intuitive.
Thanks for sharing your experience

I have purchased all my new vehicles from dealers. In 86 my family had recently had a bad local dealer experience, so we went to the salesman we had previously used at a regional dealership and had a great experience. In 1994, I tried to use a different dealer, and they were scum both at the sales and service - which led me to never purchasing a Dodge again. In 2000ish, after being stranded on the side of the road virtually countless times (ok, 1-2 dozen), with NO help from a dealer in fixing the underlying problems - I tried a 3rd dealer. No specific problems, but the vehicle was also a lemon. 2004 tried to purchase a Nissan - dealer was scum and I vowed never to risk owning a Nissan and walked out at closing. Went back to the dealer network that had treated me good - and they tried shit at closing and I asked for my keys to walk out as well. They fixed it - I had that vehicle for 16 years. Next vehicle was a VW - good experience with the dealers. Then in 2017 went to several dealers to find a Ford - sales were great. Service was non-existant. Found a different Ford dealer and they have been good for me since.

Just a long winded way of saying - I have had more bad experiences with dealers than good ones, and the progression has generally been to the worse. While shopping for the 3/4 ton truck - I tried to consider both Dodge and Chevy. Neither even wanted to talk to me. I had my kids with me and they thought it was a waste of time. I also struck out at 2 of the 3 Ford dealers I went to. One would not let me have a test drive without a down payment - the other simply would not listen to a word I told them. I was pretty strait forward - I have 5 minutes, what is the price. I left without knowing the price and probably will never come back. (Honestly, timing was wrong on that - it was shopping before I just got the VW, but I have never been back to that Ford dealer

Tesla will remain the only electric vehicle manufacturer allowed to sell directly to customers in Washington.

That’s because legislation that would have put firms like Rivian and Lucid on equal footing with the electric carmaker failed to advance out of a House committee on Friday, the deadline for non-fiscal bills to be voted out of policy committees.

House Bill 1721, ran out of juice in the House Consumer Protection & Business Committee where Rep. Amy Walen, D-Kirkland, the chair, said it lacked caucus support.

Can we bring it to the US Supreme Court? It seems like that would make the biggest statement. Obviously we can’t put the Scouts out on Capitol Hill, they might get stolen but maybe get secret service to watch it. Lowkey would be a tough picture. Men in black suits around to beasts.

Consumer protection my a$$
US supreme courts might pass it if it was brought up since we do have laws about an unfair marketplace. If Microsoft, and Apple(just a few examples I thought of) can sell DTC then why can’t Scout. It’s the same concept just cars. And Dealerships are being the unfair marketplace, jacked up prices, middle men that get commission percentages on top, the list can go on.
