Kia Electric Tasman Pickup

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
It’s certainly different. I think the article said it’s about the size of Ford Lighting. I hope it is smaller. The market could use some smaller vehicles.
It's smaller. The existing Tasman has an overall length of 213 inches compared with the Lightning's 233 inches. The wheelbase is 129 inches compared with the Lightning's 146. Width is 75 inches compared vs 80 for the Lightning. The Tacoma is 213-226" long, 76" wide, with a wheelbase of 132".

But not too small

I'll be honest - I kinda love it. It looks like it should be in one of the Kirby video games or something to me. So adorable. But not for everyday I don't think. It would make a great vehicle to replace all the darn golf carts at the beach.

As a fan of kei cars, I am definitely into it. I love a tiny truck and/or a tiny car, being a person who lives in the city and such. I’m surprised that golf carts can get around the beach? Huh. I’d figure they’d get stuck, but I don’t usually spend a lot of time with golf carts. They’re fun to drive recklessly on paved-ish roads, but I’ve never seen them driven on sand. 🤔

Fortunately this isn’t people driving them on the sand - it’s either absolutely ancient people or underage kids driving them around the smaller side roads. The old people can’t see you and the kids can’t steer and forget about stop signs. Oh and there are also the teen boys who are trying to put them up on two wheels. My husband’s family has a tiny old house at Topsail Island and some company on the island has started renting them out so they are everywhere. If I didn’t almost get run over 3-4 times every time I walk the dog, I wouldn’t be so grumpy about them 😂

In tech in the SF Bay Area so every time I hear that truck's name I think of Cisco which is based on Tasman Drive.

I’m sure that Alpha Motors will remain in the vaporware realm (I hope not). But their mockups knock it out of the park! This is the Alpha Wolf.

That’s cool but what’s the bandaid graphic on the doors

I LOVE the Telo. It has incredible space efficiency. I never brought it up here because it's really in a different space, and in all likelihood, they are more a shoestring startup that will likely not make it. :(

It's only the length of a Mini-cooper (~152 inches long). It has a midgate, and utilizing it, they can carry 8 foot building materials with the tailgate closed.

That "bandaid" is an air outlet. Because they lack a fender covering the front of the wheels, there is a high air pressure zone behind the wheels and that is where it escapes. There is a newer design that has the vent closer to the wheels which looks a bit less weird.

Telo is just about the only pickup I would actually consider owning if it was an actual well made product. I consider the size penalty of pickups simply not worth it to me. But here on the Telo there really is no size penalty.
