Delete Start/Stop

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Please allow for auto on/off (brake pedal/leave vehicle) with phone key like all modern EVs. The start/stop button (seen on the steering wheel) is an extra step that reduces the driver experience.

Absolutely! My first buttonless start/stop car was 2015. Since then I’ve owned an additional 3 buttonless and 2 with start/stop. It’s shocking how annoying that meaningless action is, once you live without it.
I’d say the button is today what key-only start was 5-10 years ago or what key-only lock/unlock (no fob) was 15-20 years ago.

What has your buttonless experience been?

In all fairness there’s been a long discussion about this already on the forum. My feelings are the public wanted the Scout to be tactile functions and not all electronic. I personally like it. I know it can be done without the start button and maybe because it’s my first EV I feel I need it 😀
I have no problem if the car reads key and sets up the driver settings as I’m getting in but the start button to me is the start of my driving experience so I see value in it but I’m not opposed to SM keeping the button and adding a skip feature in set up that also allows you to have your cake and eat it too.
Then everyone wins

And here I was thinking that button would be to manually start/stop the Harvester... LOL.

I'm not sure what a start/stop button would do for the pure EV except create more lag.

Maybe that is the answer - DELETE start/stop for the pure EV, b/c once you awaken/unlock an EV, start/stop would be redundant & unnecessary. And once you place the truck in "P" lock an EV it is already "stopped".

Seems like there has to be some manual control for the harvester, e.g. how would it know if car in sealed garage with low battery or something like that, or alternatively start it up when parked at campsite or whatever.

Yes, agreed... That is what I was saying - I thought that button was for the Harvester config only
