  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Would you be more inclined to buy a Tera if it came with a straight 6 and a manual transmission?

Actually better. Follow posts by @R1TVT he’s posted lots of great material. I’ve learned a ton over last 23 months. Keep in mind-more torque, basically no noise and every time you’re “idling” the engine isn’t running so no fuel burn

Will have to follow him, we do a fair amount of off roading (Moab, San Juan mountain’s ect ect) along with ranch roads/trails and I’m interested in learning more about how gearing works and unsprung weight since I’d love to run heavy ass 37” tires on forged aluminum wheels

I'm curious and I am putting this pole up here to maybe get the minds of the developers to listen to the people.
Seems like the people have spoken, and loudly.

I have a diesel Land Rover that goes everywhere and gets a bazillion miles of range. Torque is king for offroading, and nothing has more torques (to use a Clarksonism) than an EV.

Sadly they don't sell the newest turbodiesel versions in the US any more. And I like how this one looks. And it has a REx which means unlimited range as long as I can refill a couple Jerry cans from time to time. At least on paper - if they can't work out the packaging, I'll be happy to keep my Landy till the wheels fall off and solid state batteries with 1,000 miles of range that charges in 10 minutes are a real thing.

For long days of off-highway travel, but where miles traveled are often quite low, I would expect very little range used.
Unfortunately this utopia is a pipe dream. Just like ICE engines - the harder the terrain, the lower the efficiency. Rivian has shown this through their racing in the Rebelle Rally - they may only get 1/4 rated range on really hard stages.

Hills is hills, sands is sands, muds and rocks is muds and rocks. Doesn't matter if you're burning dino juice or buckets of sunshine.

Keep in mind while the legacy folks here want off roaders the majority of buyers will never drive beyond a stone lane. This has been stated over and over since this journey began 2 years ago. It needs to be capable to satisfy the hard core buyers but needs to be just as successful as a daily driver and/or a farm/utility vehicle

When we attended Raptor Assault we had just spent a week camping in Moab & fully 90% of the class had never been off road & taking the new raptor to Moab was mind boggling

At least 75-80% of the attendees were getting a Raptor as a status symbol & had zero plans or desires to take it off road

Hell, we got pulled over in Chicago for driving/parking on a boulevard as “trucks” are banned from certain roads & parking……

I still get looks when I take my 2017 Discovery off-road. But then, the week I got it we were in the deep outback of Wyoming for the total solar eclipse, and literally five minutes after setting off for home afterwards, we pulled up behind a brand-new full-fat Range Rover on a seriously rugged 30-mile two-track. Both of us had temp tags, and we drove together until we got to graded gravel, and then 60 more miles again to pavement at an underpass farm road junction with I-80.

I’d be willing to bet it was more of a WTF is a “greenie” doing here……especially if you were off of 80 for the eclipse when it was up off of 25

We made a tour that started in Thermopolis WY at daybreak & traded across private rancher land, public land & government managed land to the world famous Butch Cassidy’s hole in the wall & then popped out on 25 just south of buffalo after it had gotten dark. Had everything from a brand new Lexus to a Chevy Astro van & everything in between

We were warned to make sure gas tanks were full as it was a long way to pavement and a gas station & only looks we got were some WTF At the end of the day when we took a “trail” that got us to a seldom used road & to 25

Was cool using historical wagon trails to get in & out…a full 12 hours with zero cell service or any internet/connectivity once we left pavement

I'd still purchase regardless. While I like the idea of a gas/diesel/manual variant I'm by no means plan to take my toys and go home because I didn't get that option.

I voted no as I am indifferent to the power train options. There are a lot of pros to either ice or evs options and each have their detractors.

A well built v8 is hard to beat. I have yet to own an EV so I am looking forward to experiencing that too.

The worst can be an underperforming, over regulated, gutless power train.... I am looking at you Jeep! I swear my 200k LJ gets better gas mileage than my Gladiator 😂😭
