  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Would you be more inclined to buy a Tera if it came with a straight 6 and a manual transmission?

While I occasionally wish I had a 2nd truck - I need my 3/4 ton, so an ICE Scout really does not interest me that much. Plus, I will never own another truck with only a 5.5' bed. Perhaps if they offered it with a 6' flatbed... But honestly, I am most interested in the EV, not another ICE.

23 months of gas engine requests. Now a poll. For the love of god. They’ve spent 2 years of planning and millions of dollars to get to here. The gas generator was offered to satisfy the hesitant. The plant is well under way to produce EV’s. I can’t even be patient any more. It’s a topic that’s been beat to death.
90% of members will pick ICE or hybrid but it isn’t happening. Scott Keogh has said it multiple times.
I just need to block this thread 🤯

And for what it’s worth-I’d pick hybrid which you should add to poll😂

What sold me on the Scout was the harvester package, that’s how the rail road moves America so if it’s good enough for train engines why not EV’s??

I forgot to add, the US Military is going to the Harverster style technology in new vehicles, tanks have maxed out available power as have other armored vehicles so the harverster tech opens up quite a bit more power as well as the electric drive advantage

I'm curious and I am putting this pole up here to maybe get the minds of the developers to listen to the people.

Well, with an attitude like that about electric cars, I most assuredly would not take my shirt off for you while you charged your car in the parking lot.

Hope someone comes by to pick up this toxic waste barrel soon.

Well, oddly enough I am a bit of a gearhead. Pulled the 287 out of Granddads 62' Chevy truck and put a 350 on with a 4 barrel Everbroke and some nice pipes. Even rebuilt the front end to have Willwood disks and power brakes.

That said, never going to buy another new gasser, I like having clean fingernails and not getting pan handled at the gas pump.

I only charge away from home when on vacation and I like vacation so yup, all good.

Hard fast ABSOLUTELY NO on gasser models. If you’d asked “Diesel?” I might have hesitated. Please, Scout Motors, stay your course!

Traveler Harvester is a fantastic option. The digital UX (Community) notwithstanding, EVs are infinitely more simple machines.

Having swapped alternators and thermostats (and one air suspension to coils) on expeditions, I very much will be happy to have an EV SUV and its inherent reliability.

The generator is the icing on the cake.

Harvester is effectively a hybrid. I don’t need a vehicle switching between gas and EV and turning off and on at stop lights.

Recently sold our much loved 2019 Tesla 3 and can say EV ownership is a transformative and almost entirely positive experience. Range anxiety for 99% of Scout owners will be resolved via Harvester. There are jerry cans for the other 1%.

To clarify, I was being sarcastic-I’m all in for EV. Was just tired of the ICE trolling

A factory option to have a jerry can on the spare tire mount would be most excellent.

Dont want one on the inside of the vehicle for obvious reasons

Did they say how many gallons Harvester tank will be? If it’s a small inverter type generator, should sip gas whilst charging. Very curious to read more on the Harvester engineering.

Not from what I’ve ever seen, just like no idea what kind of gas motor it will have. Just that it will have around 500 mile range

Wonder how off roading will also affect the mileage of an electric vehicle, never thought about that before

Actually better. Follow posts by @R1TVT he’s posted lots of great material. I’ve learned a ton over last 23 months. Keep in mind-more torque, basically no noise and every time you’re “idling” the engine isn’t running so no fuel burn

I know the OP was probably a troll, but just to add my name to the pile… I wouldn’t buy an all-gas version of either the Scout truck or SUV. I already own an XTerra. I’d guess many other people who really want to wheel already have a gas vehicle that does what they want… that’s super not the point!

I put in a reservation on the all-electric version because I want a body-on-frame SUV, diff lockers, good ground clearance and angles, etc… that’s gonna rock off-road but runs on electrons from solar or nuclear or wind or whatever other renewable. Oh and by the way it has tons of torque and no power bands or gear hunting to deal with when climbing over stuff. And someday my xterra is going to finally die and gas is going to go away or get really expensive.

You guys have my $100; I hope you can deliver!

EVs are incredibly efficient at delivering massive torque / motion from the batteries, with better than inverse efficacy compared to gas and diesel, where most of the fuel is burned to create heat and noise.

When crawling, or climbing, infinitely less energy is expended in an EV to achieve the same results as an internal combustion platform.

And at “idle” virtually no energy is lost in an EV, even with AC or heater and AV functioning. For long days of off-highway travel, but where miles traveled are often quite low, I would expect very little range used.

I’m cool with a wheel and a couple of hampsters in the frunk. Does that work for you? 🤣
