Volkswagen Dealerships

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hi all-Will the Scouts be sold and serviced at dealerships across the US? TY!
The word so far is that’s being discussed on where and how Scouts will be sold and serviced. Service would be great. Direct sales would be better from my point of view. Simpler, less frustrating process for acquiring a vehicle

It is a good question that may still be on the drawing board. Some VW dealers might not want the hassle of dealing with something even though affiliated is foreign to them.

They may even feel relieved that parent VW is retrenching on EV.

With the multi billion "software" deal with Rivian maybe we might see service facilities dedicated to Rivian, Scout and all other VW EVs.

Just remember, Ford had a plan for freestanding Bronco dealerships and I have yet to see one.

Direct sales and service is the only way to go.

It’s a bad idea to put a 3rd party with their own priorities and motivations between you and your customers. Even if you get lucky and there aren’t any EV haters at the dealership, it’s still a PITA for them to have to deal with a bunch of new tech and learning they didn’t sign up for, and it’s likely your service will reflect that.

Another alternative would be to contract with (and possibly create) an independent EV-only service chain that can do warranty service. Creating such a chain would allow your service budget to go further as your service chain would be making income from fixing other EVs too, not just Scouts.

I agree direct would be best, but I live half a country away from the manufacturing plant. What would I do if I have an issue? Instead, I live 18 miles from a VW dealership that is already selling and servicing their EVs. Seems like a VW dealership would be better for me and I’m guessing a lot of others also.

There’s a legal issue in some states with direct sales from the manufacturer to the consumer (which is why Tesla has “galleries” rather than dealerships for pickups) because it can create an unfair marketplace if franchisees have to compete directly with manufacturers, etc. etc. etc.,

Everyone pretty much universally hates car dealers except perhaps car dealers. Setting up a new dealership is probably expensive, especially if it isn’t immediately profitable and could have shared existing real estate. I don’t know how or where pop-ups figure in, but don’t people love those? 🤷‍♀️ That solution is above my paygrade.
