Sliding Glass Pano Roof?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Not currently in plans. Either fixed pano or the cabana. I’m hoping the struts on rear lift are heavy enough to hold it open while driving 35-40 mph. Then I can get cabana and open that and windows and will feel nearly like a convertible
I really hope they reconsider. While most people who buy appliances never use theirs, this will definitely be a lifestyle vehicle.

Another vote for VW / Audi / Porsche style panoramic roof option. These are wildly popular, and VW has designs for Atlas, Q-Series that work quietly, reliably, and without leaks. I've owned two Touaregs and one Q7, all fitted with this option, and VW really knows how to do it. They stay low when open, so roof racks may still be able to play above them. Proper aero and fairings on the racks keep wind howl to an acceptable minimum. 10/10 would choose this over the cloth roof, myself.

I’ll take whatever creates the biggest opening but with an equal size opening, I’d rather have glass than fabric.

I asked this exact thing several times. The answer is no. It is a fixed glass panel. If you want something that opens you have to get the Cabana top. We did make sure they understood that it cannot leak under any circumstances.
That’s disappointing.

I have builders near me building million dollar + homes with fixed windows and 80% of buyers don’t care. I love natural ventilation but guess we are the few

I am personally fine with the fixed glass roof. My last 3 vehicles had had such. But, I would not be opposed to a sliding panoramic roof. I would probably not opt for the cabana roof solely because of the weather in my home location. But, I wouldn’t mind the rear glass being able to open. @J Alynn Has mentioned if it might be possible to ride with the lift gate open. That’s also a possibility.

That's one of my biggest reservations. Is losing my open air feeling of my Wrangler.
It may be possible to get the Cabana top on the Terra, but I was looking at getting a hard top Gladiator for my next purchase. I have a soft top now and it doesn't make for very good insulation or road noise suppression.
I hope not leaking is thoroughly QA'd by release.
