Most states make it illegal, add that with the number of people of takes doors off and it's a small market. What if to compete with Wranglers there was an option for removable doors? I would definitely get behind this
My father had a wrangler when I was a teenager, and while we were excited about the option to remove the doors, we really didn't ever do it, even while wheeling. We had the half doors on there with the removeable soft uppers, and that worked really well, as the half doors were very low.
It’s a great idea as a lifestyle feature but guessing less than 3% of Jeepers ever take doors off. Lot of expensive parts and engineering to make something for the 3%. Save that for the future smaller SUV where target market lies.Doors off, Top down, cruising the beach is the way to go!
Can always simply have after market mirrors that mount to the A pillar or body. Even if the design of the vehicle allows for an ease of removal of the doors would be appreciated with a quick disconnect for any electrical.
Those that want to keep it on it will look as you want it to.
Options are always nice!
Everyone will hate on removable doors, but I absolutely love them.
I get it. I’m just disappointed. Doesn’t mean I don’t understand the business argument, I just wish reality were different. I’ve had several vehicles through the years where the doors and/or top were removable and I utilized those unique features in all of them. They have been far and away the most engaging and fun vehicles I have owned, earning my loyalty and enthusiasm. It’s just disappointing that others don’t enjoy it or take advantage in the same way. When I said hating, I suppose what I really meant was “not wanting”, “not caring”, “not trying”, or all of the above.I don't see anyone hating on them. Just people pointing out that only a tiny niche of buyers care about taking doors off.
I mean, all things considered, they’re removable if someone hits them at a fast enough speed…I get it. I’m just disappointed. Definitely. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I won’t take them off unless they’ve been designed to do so though.I mean, all things considered, they’re removable if someone hits them at a fast enough speed…
And they *could* be removable: it would just be a huge pain in the ass and probably look janky. I’m sure someone would be delighted to do that mod (make the door more easily removed/replaced) for the right price. Never too late to pick up a new hobby, either, if you wanted to give it a try? This probably sounds incredibly optimistic, but crazier things have been done.

Seems like the engineering for doors-off capability with the new Bronco isn’t too far outside of standard. Jeep is a different story. Seems as if it wouldn’t be hard for Scout Motors to do since they’re starting from the ground-up, but my impression has always been that they do not have any intention on having an open-air focus for their vehicles other than the optional Cabana top.
Couldn't agree more, I like the idea of removing the roof and doors and allowing the hair flow in the wind on a 80 degree days, truth is, I never did. The roof is too heavy for the center section, the doors are a pain to remove and quite frankly I'm too conservative in my aging years to risk being in an accident. I use to be fun at parties, not much anymore! It’s a great idea as a lifestyle feature but guessing less than 3% of Jeepers ever take doors off. While we had the Bronco -just less than 1-1/2 years we had soft top. Only 1 time did I drop the entire roof. If you have it as a non-daily driver and can garage it that’s great but as a daily, one time of that work and hassle was plenty. Rest of time owning we flipped back the front panel and dropped the windows and that was more than enough open air.
Good point. Made me also realize that the at this price point I don’t think the demographic is gonna be 20-something’s that are young and “dumb” and will actively risk their safety for the fun of an open runCouldn't agree more, I like the idea of removing the roof and doors and allowing the hair flow in the wind on a 80 degree days, truth is, I never did. HEY ME TOO (well, an “approaching 50” ride but same thing)I’m looking for a 50 something mid-life-crisis-mobile so I can throw caution to the wind.
