Ram Bait and Switch...

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Whatever happens with the new Scout...please don't do what RAM did and show a concept and bait people into buying a reservation...then switch it up and pull the cool concept and just give everyone the same ole' thing they have today.

Obviously this is a bit different since there isn't an in PRD chassis today. But, the sentiment is still true...give us what we see and are paying for with holding our reservations!

Technically Ram had a pre-production model in March of 2023. It was a wild concept, but it was never a preorder vehicle.

I guess the general point should be that we all hope the Scouts that were previewed are very close to the Scouts we get to purchase.
Watching the new forged video I certainly hope the headlights don’t end up morphing into what was shown on the primer white traveler or I’ll be very disappointed

That's not the pre-production truck. That's the concept from January, that I linked in my post.

It didn't cease to exist after they showed the production intent versions, so technically I guess they still have it today.

While the story you link, shows picture of the Concept version, they are clear that is NOT what we are getting:

"But when we got our first look at the actual 2025 Ram 1500 REV, the version that will go into production, most of the cool bits were gone and it looked a lot more like a conventional Ram..."

It's mostly just a rehash of old news, using the concept pictures because they look cooler.

Yes. It's clear what Scout showed are production intent prototypes. There may small changes necessary for production, but what they showed should be much like what was showed.

But, there is also no need to unfairly malign RAM for something they did not do. There was no bait and switch.

They showed a non production concept, followed by their own production intent models later, and they only opened pre-orders after showing the production intent models.

This is the truck I put a deposit down for. I think that’s the intended production version.
