Prices dropping on EVs

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Discussed before but never with such duscounts

With a very well equipped Fikar Ocean now selling for under $40k (they will be out of business before first ev Scout rolls off factory floor) and somewhere around $12k discountbon Mach E (Ford not going anywhere) and BYD selling EVs for equivalent of $13k in other countries the pressure will be on the entire EV segment to at least match dollar for feature equivalent ICE vehicles if not be priced lower than.

Fisker has been hemorrhaging and languishing for a LONG LONG time. The Fisker fire sale is not representative of the entire EV sector, rather how competitive and challenging it can be to bring a whole new brand (and vehicle) to market. Love it or hate it, this is where having VW group's importance is highlighted as a significant strength and advantage with Scout

I had another thought on the EV sales POV. The Silverado thread got me thinking on this. The EV’s with the most success (presumed) like Tesla and Rivian (albeit slowly) is they are unique vehicles buildt somewhat for a new/unique segment beyond just being EV.
As discussed in the other thread, I have no interested in an EV version of an existing model that lacks character. I struggled enough deciding to buy the Accord hybrid for same reason but wanted to improve my carbon footprint and decide if I can live with an EV. The idea of a rebadged F-150, Toyota Camry-esque vehicle with no character but more cost is a lose-lose proposition as a guy/person that has a passion for cars.
I pass my local Acura dealer every day to work and they’ve had (4) brand new ZDX’s sitting on the lot for over a month now. At $70K + and the underpinnings of GM it’s no wonder they aren’t selling. You can get a larger MDX type S for a few grand more and still essentially have a soulless vehicle.
The Scout NEEDS to be like the Bronco for this reason. A driveable off-road Swiss Army knife.
A niche-like vehicle with a very unique look and image to get people to say “what the hell-I want one”. That’s what Rivian managed. Fisker has had great designs but typical of Fisker he just burned through cash too quickly.
The Scouts have to be something you desire not something that’s just another SUV or truck. Something physically and emotionally has to set it apart and that’s a tough thing to get right.
I still think the top has to open substantially to get it to that experience level. Get “younger” buyers in the door who don’t know the legacy but desire to be EV buyers with a youthful vehicle-then grow them into the brand as they grow as a family and the SM business grows into various models.
I just read in Forbes that Honda is actively talking EV sports car/convertible to compete with Miata. I’ve had a convertible and loved it but have always wanted another Scout. The Bronco we had renewed my love of open top lifestyle vehicles because of the unique opportunity to connect physically and emotionally. Seeing as my family is a Honda family there is a part of me wondering if a unique EV convertible offers the same fun as a lifestyle SUV?
I hope the Scout does it right. I want to feel 16 again enjoying a FUN SUV.

We got the impression Kia has marked up their EVs to discount them. At least here in the Southwest.

Our Chevy dealer is giving good discounts on the Blazer EV. The stop sale episode contributed to the over- stock situation is their tale.

Remember MG ? Now owned by China but current (EV pun) prototype of their all electric roadster would have me in line if we could get them here without 100% tariffs.

And I fully agree with you that the key to success is building something that is not just a same old donut with different icing.

I will hit 50,000 miles on my 2021 Bronco this week and every mile even commuting has been FUN. Not quite like the Scout 80 we had new even before I could drive. But not having to engage/disengage front hubs is a plus.

I always thought Jeep could have really remained the Scout with their Renegade. An opening top and removable doors like the Wrangler and they would sell twice as many and they di sell a bunch.

You had me at MG. I currently have a '62 MGA that I'm restoring (sitting right beside my Scout II of course). Had to take a look at least. https://www.mgcyberster.co.uk/
