Love bench seat, but it needs to fold down.

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Scout seems to be offering us the best of both world's with either a bench + flip-up, OR a 2 bucket seat config with a fixed console. I'm sure whatever folding console option there is will also serve as a great arm rest when folded down (for the driver's right arm or the passenger's left)... My last Silverado 2500HD had a bench and was configured this way, and it worked well, until you needed to suddenly flip it up... Invariably, you put crap in open slots in the console, as seen below (scraped from the interweb, but this looked a lot like what I had in my old truck).

When your console has stuff sitting on it, or sitting inside open trays like you see below, its all going to fly into the back seat when flipped-up (unless it is covered). We actually had discussed this a while back and talked about how the console could be designed with flip-up/covered compartments that you can easily open and close for whenever you want to use the bench... Think about an easy-to-open or close tackle box or similarly engineered storage unit for the flip-up. I'm sure Scout will have its engineers design a console that is awesome. Even though my Silverado's front middle seating wasn't used much, I could very easily carry 6 full sized passengers. The circle in red shows the big "void" where Scout could also add a removable storage bin or cooler with cup holders, just sayin'

This is what the Gen 2 Dodge Ram solution was. The top was flat. It was pretty good and it had dedicated compartments. But, they should have had lids because stuff would still move around if you flipped it into the seat position.

I think it is OK for the top to have a slot or space to place your phone (or 2), and to have 2 cup holders. Everything else should go underneath and have lids or good enclosures (to your point). That Silverado one I posted also lifted up to reveal a deep storage bin, but yes, $hit would fly all over inside there going up and down!
