Charging a Scout with a Scout

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So this was something that literally came to me in a dream last night. The idea was charging a Scout (or other EV) with another Scout. There’s been talk about EV’s running houses when there’s no power. But what about using one EV to charge another? Imagine a Scout is down to 5% battery, and there’s no way it will make it to the next charging station. Would it be possible for another Scout (say a Harvester) to plug into the Scout and get it up to 10% or 15% to make it to the next charging station?

I think that Scout should make this available.

V2V / V2L bidirectional charging is available from other manufacturers.

AI info..Accuracy unknown?

Vehicles with EV to EV Charging Capabilities
Ford F-150 Lightning (V2G, V2H, V2V)
Genesis GV60 (V2L)
Hyundai Ioniq 5 (V2L)
Hyundai Ioniq 6 (V2L)
Kia EV6 (V2L)
Kia Niro (V2L)
Lucid Air (V2V)
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (V2L);
Nissan Leaf (V2H, V2G)
Tesla Cybertruck (V2L)
VW ID.4 (V2H)
Tesla Cybertruck offers vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging through its Powershare feature.
Powershare also allows for vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) charging.

Future?
Rivian V2V
Ram 1500 Ramcharger V2L

Terra
"...Designed for you to get fast charging times and Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality—so you can use the Terra as a backup power source for your worksite, campsite, and home...."

You’re train of thought is similar to a thread I made in the suggestion section.

I’d also like to see this offered as long as it doesn’t push the base price up. I guess I’m hoping they’ve already baked this into the original design and pricing.

I missed your thread, but it’s definitely on the same idea. I just remember waking up at 2am and wondering if you could charge one EV with another? It’s just something that kind of made sense to me, but at the same time I’m not an engineer, and not sure how this would work?
