I see other folks have had much different experiences than I. I guess I don’t really understand the hate specifically for 37s, but I can see the crowd here has some pretty hard set opinions on them for some reason. Pretty interesting. I don’t really get why anyone cares what size tires someone else wants or uses. If they’re not for you, don’t get them and don’t let them make you angry.

I’ve had mine for several years now. They were the lightest and cheapest I could find - in fact, not much heavier or more expensive than the stock tires they replaced at that time. The 2 inch lift that allowed them to fully stuff when articulated was something like $200 or so. I installed everything myself in order to afford it. If I wasn’t planning to use it off road more and more, I wouldn’t have needed the lift and I wouldn’t have bothered with the different tires. I’ve had a total of zero breakages and zero reliability issues in the past 5+ years. There are occasional 3 to 5 foot or larger rock ledges on certain trails depending where you’re at so extra clearance can be a big benefit. Yes I ran some of the trails on my stock 33s without issues, but I was also on my skids a lot more. It is what it is.

I personally don’t hate on 37’s when they are legitimately using them for the purposes you’ve described. It’s similar in thinking to @Scoutsie where it’s the 20 something wannabe’s, who never hit a trail and just drive around with tires humming loud enough to hear them from a 1/4 mile away. If they want to waste there money (lifts, tires, decreased mileage ) then have at it but I wish someone would educate them that it doesn’t make them cooler unless they are using the tires with the intent the manufactures initially had. Your lifestyle justifies those mods, no question about it but these young people doing it to look cool is just pissing money away. Your experiences will make that loss over time worth it in many ways. I went through this with my daughter when she got her Bronco. It took 7 months to convince her (with logic) that the $3500 or more (we aren’t capable to do the work, and did t want to risk warranty on a vehicle we knew was a bad investment to begin with. It’s the humor of seeing 20somethings (or whomever) driving these with perfect polished shine and no sign of wear and tear why they around thinking they are cool while in fact most people are looking at them questioning their common sense. Goes for a lot of different mods-like fart cans on a 4 cylinder. But that’s my opinion. That said I love seeing modded trucks but mod them with intent. But again, I’m not losing sleep over it either

You’ve got a very valid point: there’s no good reason why we need to police each other’s preferences, but there’s probably a story behind it. Until this past year, it didn’t ever really occur to me that there was a legit purpose for big tires.

Cheesy though it is to say, I am grateful for this forum because if I hadn’t stumbled across it, I’d probably still just be grumbling with my friends about big SUVs and big trucks (and there’s no way that I’d have ever developed a crush on R1Ts lol). It’s opened my mind up quite a bit.

Don't get me started on those lowered cars; so low they have trouble with driveways, tiny curbs, etc... tragic.

I have no hate for 37", it's just that the penalty on an EV is going to be quite extreme. You don't do this on a whim.

The OEM AT tires that you can optionally for some EV's are likely going to be a very light duty "on-road" AT, which will be significantly lighter, and more efficient than real off-road AT tires, so even in the same size you are going to lose range even just changing to a real off-road tire.

The base tires are probably 33", and won't even be AT tires. Heck the base Jeep Wrangler comes with Michelin LTX highway all season tires. That is likely what they do their EPA numbers with for maximum MPG. I'd expect similar for the base package on the Scouts for max EPA range.

33" LTX weighs about 40 lbs, and is designed for low rolling resistance - something like this will likely be the 350 mile range tire, or a super light "AT" tire that is really just a more about looks than real off road capability.

35" 325/65R18 - GOODYEAR WRANGLER TERRITORY AT - is less extreme AT tire weighs about 62 lbs. An OEM offering might be special, even lighter duty design to improve efficiency.

37" 37X12.5R18LT - NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLER - At this size just about everything is heavy duty off road tires, these weigh 81 lbs. You are spinning double the rotational mass, and there is zero compromise made for efficiency. The range penalty for running these will be quite extreme. On a gas powered rig, you stop more often for gas. On an EV you lose a LOT of range you never get back.

I don't believe anyone is "hating" on anything. And people should mod their rigs to their content. When people post on the internet, gushing over something, or deriding something, one should now reasonably expect a response from the internet, LOL.

A lot of correct things have been correctly stated about the decreased return when diverging from the manufacturer's design (and the extensive engineering behind it). 35s or 33s are going to be standard options - for myriad reasons.

In our NC Land Rover club, we've routinely extracted broken trail-rig Jeeps and heavily modded large trucks, mostly down to broken suspension components (and always with oversized tires). The dynamics introduced by these heavy massive wheel and tire combos play a central role in the failures we see.

The tire and wheel combination on the preview trucks were what, precisely? They didn't look like light-duty ATs to me. Scout is on the right track for 99.5% of customers.

I agree with doing what you want with your ride except a Carolina squat. Scout should have sensors installed that detect if that nonsense is going on so it disables the vehicle until you fix it.

I’m sure Scout Motors will do their best to help accommodate everyone’s taste/needs/wants/use-case with various trims, options, and packages. There’s a lot to consider on their end since I can see everyone has very different wishes as well as intended uses for the vehicles. I can’t wait to see what they come up with.
