A kitchen would be ridiculous, but I wouldn’t be sad

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I am not against this. Anyone have any experience using one? Seems like it’d be awesome when camping. Definitely takes up tunnel space though so I’m not sure how Scout Motors would package something like this or where it would be stored.

I think you’re right. I want it anyway.
When I first saw that the pull-out kitchdn was possible, all I could think about was how much I wanted an R1T and it reminded me of how obsessed I was with the BMW Z3 roadster after seeing GoldenEye in high school. I want to go to the Rivian store on Newbury Street in Boston to ask questions about many whimsical pullout mini woodland scenes have people made using the utility tunnels (because if I didn’t have a sick camp kitchen, I would want a little mushroom/moss garden with tiny hand-felted animals on one half for on-demand whimsy) or arrange for a demo drive and ask if we can do tank turns on Mass Ave (I know they actually can’t, but I can dream), but I also know it will just end in heartbreak because the price is so far away from anything that is within reach.

Rivian bailed on the integrated gear tunnel kitchen I think. It was pricey and took up the entire gear tunnel, and a bunch of owners (like me) already had camp cooking sets and various gear. So they pivoted and just built a very nice little travel kitchen / cooktop that you can use on the tailgate or any flat surface:

Other aftermarket companies have followed suit with their own versions, like Thunderbolt for example: https://www.thunderboltadventuresupply.com/collections/r1t-gear

This is the exact issue I'm worried about with Scout planning in-house accessories--I think it'll be too much of their money/time wasted on accessories that would better be designed/built by the aftermarket. I would prefer they focus everything they've got on the vehicles.

But induction stove and fancy and well-balanced 🥺

I like that Rivian doesn’t necessarily make all of the things in their gear shop, but points you to stuff that they ostensibly approve of enough to sell in their store, kind of like the Apple Store selling certain third-party accessories. Something like that would be great for pointing you to where you could get stuff.

I'm pretty sure they don't make them, and I'm sure they have a healthy mark up,

Probably. What I was meaning to say that I’d find helpful is something like this, where rather than giving you an option to buy a mattress on the Rivian site from Rivian, they have a listing for this air mattress designed specifically to work with an R1 interior and point you to the manufacturer’s website (where it’s sold out, I don’t know if it’s that for the moment or permanently). Something like this is helpful, too. I’d not mind seeing all of the options for things I can buy third-party in one place (assuming Scout is granting licenses for people to make stuff and allowing them to say “yes, this works with a Scout, I have obtained legal permission to say that” and can get that info together and put it on their website) instead of having to chase it down yourself. There’s probably an easier/more efficient way to explain that, but I’m tired. 🥱

I really like that idea. Even if some items have one or two approved/recommended suppliers so you’d have some options. Maybe even a SM code that gives you 5-10% off purchase price?
