240V Outlet on Traveller

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I completely agree, and have a few posts on this from before they had these upvotes here.

The use case for me for the 240v is powering my home during a power outage, not running a welder. The power outages for me are almost always during big storms. If it’s not possible to have an external 240v outlet, a NACS to Nema 14-30 adapter or something similar would also be acceptable (similar to how the Ioniq 5 does its V2L feature today).

I mean, I guess? If it is an option I know that I will add it and worry about what to use it for later. Home backup power here in tornado alley would definitely be a convenience. However, it seems like this would be able to be worked out through a level 2 home charger?

Yes, but bi directional capable chargers are currently about double the price of standard level 2 home chargers.

Upvoting myself here.

I just got out of a ~27hr power outage where I would have loved to have the ability to plug in a nema 15-30r (or similar) to the manual transfer switch of my home.

I had a generator, but to save fuel, I was turning it off/on every few hours, which was a pain (mostly waking up in the middle of the night).

Ohh, that would actually be an amazing feature to have. When in "generator mode", you could program a schedule to follow (1hr on, 3 hrs off, or something like that).

I hope you and yours are all safe and warm. That was a nasty storm.

Not to mention the extra hardware most utilities require for a generator to be connected to the grid. The Ford bidirectional capabilities are locked behind $5k-$10k worth of hardware, installation, and utility fees. I just use the outlets in the Lightning's bed and run extension cords.

I just did that math myself and decided against getting a bi directional charger. So I do hope for a 240V on the Traveler.

The idea of a bi-directional charger is great, until the price starts becoming a factor. I really dislike the forced requirements and hardware to enable it on things like the F150 Lightning. I understand some of it and they are trying to limit liability, but overall too pricy vs me walking out and swapping the manual interlock and plugging it in.
