  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
  • Welcome Guest to the Scout Registry!

Our goal is to create the largest Scout Registry in the world. If you own a Scout vehicle, regardless of year or condition, we would love to see it.

Just click on the "Add Vehicle" button and you can start the process. You can add a Title (your user name, model year, etc.), Brief Description (color name, model year, model) and a "Tell Us More About Your Scout:" where you can enter in your backstory, details about your Scout, modifications, restoration history, fun ownership stories and photos of your vehicle. You can also come back and modify or add to your registry entry at any time.

Also, please upload photos if you have them. You can also embed the photos into your story that you create so that people can see larger versions.

We look forward to seeing and hearing more about your Scout!

Wow, that looks amazing. Acutally made my hear flutter a little, when I saw the condition of your Scout! When my dad, who passed in 2020, bought our first Scout from the dealer right before they closed, it had this interior. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I really like the 1980 Scouts. Primarily for the black dash with silver accents, plaid interiors, the Dana 300 transfer case, and a better attempt to prevent rust in the assembly process. Mine has the 345 engine which is a plus. 1979 Scouts with the Rallye package are a very close second in my opinion. The graphics, grill and round headlights put them over the top!
I'm sorry to hear that your dad passed away. This is where the passion many of us share started from. My dad worked at the Scout and Truck plants from 1961 thru 1980. He was a foreman many of those years and is in the photo I posted that was taken outside of the Scout plant. He bought a demo 1978 Scout Traveler and I helped him restore it when I was in high school. I proudly drove it while in high school and college. I never lost my passion and was thrilled to buy this clean 1980 Scout II Travel Top earlier this year. My dad was equally as excited. Many great memories of the past and I'm looking forward to continuing them well into the future.

My dad was a physician, and he needed a vehicle that could go anywhere anytime,. We lived on the east coast, and snow was the issue when he was on call and had to go to the hospital at 3 am. I dont know how he heard about Scout, as I was 9 years old at the time. What I do remember, is going everywhere with that truck. It was a 79 Traveler 345, with the same interior as yours, but the rust outside color with decals. As time went on, and I got older, I was able to find more trucks pretty easily for great prices. I eventually moved to AZ, where I am now, and had a 77 304 100", and it was the nicest one I had ever seen. The original owner drove it here from Ohio when new, and it didnt have one single spot of rust. Then came marriage and children, and down the road it went. How cool that your Dad worked at IHC! I am hoping that this new "Scout" would scratch my itch, but unfortunately, they have already thrown down the EV gauntlet, and will miss a ton of followers because of it. I am holding out hope for a Hybrid of some kind, but I am not sure that will happen. I am not a fan of EV, as I dont think it will work for a long range off roader. My dream Scout would be an SS2, just like in my avatar to the left. Thanks for reading this, and I hope you enjoy that Scout for many years to come!
