Blue Truck is a 1977 IH Scout Traveler currently undergoing an LS swap
General Information
Blue Truck was named by my son (who's currently 4 yrs old) and came about cause I wanted to have a more unique truck. I was driving a 2010 Tundra and wanted to get something a bit smaller, but still capable. My first car was a 78 CJ-5 and while I love Jeeps I just couldn't justify having an old CJ as my main car. So after some time and energy spent researching options I decided ya know what i've never owned a scout before and there were kids I grew up with who had em and I always liked em. So let's get one of those. I bought Blue Truck sight unseen on ebay, it showed up with some rust on it, we've done some rust repair but only where necessary (for now).
Right now it's back in 1 peice and the new 6l Gen3 Vortec sitting under the hood. Currenlty in the re-wire phase. New wires head lights to tail lights, new Dakota Digital gauges as well.
Work that's been done:
1. Rebuilt front and rear Dana 44's new everything inside the axle housing. ARB locker in the front, LSD in the rear.
2. New disk brakes all around
3. High steer kit from D and C Extreme
4. New 6L Vortec Engine
5. New Custom built AX15 5sp trans
6. New NP 241 xfer case
7. Custom Exhaust
8. Patched body mount under the drivers seat.
Work left to do:
1. Wiring
2. Finish the engine bay (install radiator, wire it up, etc..)
3. Replace the brake assembly with a clutch/brake assembly. Converting it from an automatic to a 5spd
4. Install Roll bar and seatbelts
5. Install sound/heat shielding
6. Install new carpet
7. Install new seats
Getting close, I feel like most of the "hard" work is done. Now it's just time for the tedious stuff.
