1980 Scout II Diesel
Tell us about your Scout:
My grandfather started our IH dealership, White's Service Center, Inc (now White's Ford), in 1948, and my Scout II was a 1991 trade-in from an IH employee in Springfield, Ohio. It was custom ordered through the dealership, and I have all the original paperwork from the Fort Wayne plant and the dealership. While there is some putty on the panels, this has never been restored.
This Scout is pretty special for our family, and when we decided to homeschool, we named it Red Scout School.
What is with the name? Red Scout School is named after my 1980 IH Scout II. If you swipe through the photos, you'll see that our family has had some great times in it. There is no air conditioning, power steering, power windows, automatic transmission, or shoulder harness seat belts. And yet, despite its simplicity, it gets us from point A to point B and is super fun. We want to embrace that spirit and hope to bring it to Red Scout School. And let's be honest, it's a clunky bumpy ride, which I fully expect from this next year!
