  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

IH Scout and Truck Nationals 2023 Photos

Thanks Jamie and Chris for joining us at the show. We were all happy you could support and interact with a very enthusiastic national group of legacy IH scout and truck enthusiasts. NATS is no joke and we very much welcome Scout Motors’ attendance in 2024! I hope you were impressed with what...

If you do a rugged and capable EV with a true AMERICAN style, do it right...

Not a correct statement. Brake traction control systems can only bias a portion of available Powertrain torque due to physics of differentisls. A locker bypasses the differential and can double torque at a single wheel. Further, traction control systems are reactionary relying on slip to deliver...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I benchmarked the Rivian R1T out at the Anza Borrego Desert park in CA. I left with mostly disappointment. It was not, in my opinion, an enthusiast oriented off road product and has left a lot on the table related to controls capabilities with 4 motors. Its air suspension behavior and the...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

This is accurate, IdahoJoAT. In the auto industry, we call the enthusiasts the "early adopters". Thats why we can't put much weight on option take rates and what sells vs what doesn't in the first several months, because dealers tend to like to load up their vehicles with options to help get...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Agree. the wheel size will likely be determined by the braking system needs. Just to put it in perspective, folks, the Lightning F150 EV is several thousand pounds heavier than a gas F150. Think of it as an F250+ weight with an F150 badge. Batteries are heavy. I am sure Jamie and Chris...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I have to sympathize with Jamie and Chris here, olescout. The realities of EVs are that the battery is not just an energy storage device. It’s the engine too as it provides not just kWH but kW! The Motors only consume available power from the battery. We live in a world spoiled by a wonder fuel...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

The truth is, Jamie, you are right. This is a whitespace product, with Tesla and Rivian sharing their own ideas, Jeep doing soul searching on EV DNA, and your team of designers and engineers going down their own path of what makes an EV off road vehicle good. There is no true correct answer...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

While beam eAxles are relatively new to the retail sector, they are not new to the medium duty commercial sector. ZF and Magna are just two of a large number of manufacturers who have a considerable amount of resources developing the technology (I don't think Scout Motors would only ever...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Be careful with large touch screens, Jamie. Lets just say I have experience in this area and how they would work in an off road environment. Burying functions multiple layers deep in a big fancy screen may look good in publications, but does not bode well on an off road oriented product unless...

    A Tall Order

Yeah, ride height can easily be adjusted based on a drive mode. Better range can be achieved with reduced Cd. Better ground clearance on the other end of spectrum. Rivian does this on the R1T. It’s a novelty but comes with trade offs. One trade off is robustness to damage in Off road...

    A Tall Order

I respectfully disagree. Bronco and jeep have a variety of trim levels intended for a broad spectrum of customers. Anything from a mall crawler to a Moab challenger. A well informed vehicle architecture team can strive for entry level and halo offerings on the same platform. Whats critical is...

If you do a rugged and capable EV with a true AMERICAN style, do it right...

EVs have been known to be weaker in off road capability than their ICE counterparts in several areas, as a result of battery costs, increased weight, breakover angle limits and the relatively new concept limited beam eAxle technology available today. If you want to build what off road...
