  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Summer Reveal

Well, I'd be happy to get the scout transported to SC for the opening OR be at something in WA/OR. It's a frame off restored 1973 Scout 2 with a Dark Green exterior and Russet interior, 2.5" lift and 33x10.5 BFG tires on Mickey Thompson Aluminum wheels. Might be a nice connect and contrast to...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

Same thinking for me. I got the baseball hat, the steel mug and the chore coat. I'm thinking the chore coat is a lifetime item for me.

    Summer Reveal

You bet, and I've even got my new Scout Supply gear to go with it!

    Dealerships Are Dying

Thanks Jamie. My wife and I were talking and her hope was that it would be something like "European Delivery" but in SC. This would mean I could come pick up my Scout when it's ready, get a factory tour, then either 1. Drive the car home or 2. Drive the car for a vacation in that area (say a...

    What If?

It is absolutely impossible to get "free" energy from fans/etc on a car. As R1TVT says, NO. The laws of thermodynamics stand, so any of these ideas will cost more power to overcome the additional drag than they will gain in recovering power. That said, EVs already have an amazing tool, that...

    Things to Avoid

I can't stress this enough. A lot of driving a Scout is the tactile feel, sounds, etc of things, both outside the car and the car itself. There are newer cars that have really nice temp knobs that click as you rotate them/etc. My 2015 GL450 has very good controls and still has a touchscreen...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Are you responding to my post? This thread is literally the "options" thread, so don't buy the options you don't want.

    Camping / Overland Ideas

This is how my uncle's Scout 2 was configured. We would flip the rear seat forward and then we had a platform over the cargo area with tools and spare tire laying flat under it, that had a piano hinged piece of wood that was perfectly cut to flip forward and give you a bed the whole width of...

Silly ideas sometimes inspire good ones, let's hear yours

I'm going to really agree on #1. One frustration I have with modern cars is being isolated from the fresh air outside. I like having filtered heat and AC available, but I want to be able to let natural air in. I use the floor vents on my IH cars almost all the time, and the ability to open...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

I don't know if this would be better as an accessory or a built in, but let's use the electric battery to our benefit! Besides having an inverter for AC power (possibly even with 240V?) Have 1-2 built in, compressor driven coolers, ideally some that can be left on when the car is off as long...

    Range Reality Check

Bodie, I agree with most of your sentiment and it'll really hinge on what someone does with it. I'd love to have my cake and eat it too (33+ tires with good bite AND good range), but if I have to choose, I think somewhere in between is good. I'd hate to see smaller than 32", but unlike a lot...

    Rivian R2

I like both the R2 and R3 from what I've seen online, but I'm waiting for a Scout. :) If Scout wasn't coming back, I'd be looking hard between the Rivian, LR1953, and the Bronco.

    Scout Design Ideas

For me, the Scout 2 size is just about perfect. You can carry 5 people and still have pretty good storage behind the 2nd row. It's still easy to park in an urban area or fit down a tight trail or driveway, but it's not tiny. In addition, because it's electric, you can have a huge front frunk...
