Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Wait. Did he just say the tow capacity drops to 5000lbs with Harvester in it?!

Timestamped to jump to that part:
Yes, since you’re losing some battery capacity which reduces overall performance and its using a different chemistry than the BEV. 5,000lbs is still a good amount for an SUV. But the Terra should see more capacity.

Yeah since you’re losing some battery capacity which reduces overall performance. 5,000lbs is still a lot for an SUV.
But its crap for a truck. I was VERY much expecting to tow my 6500lbs trailer with the truck and gas it as needed.

I get it if it drops 2k from the top line. So if the Terra goes from 10k to 8k, thats reasonable. But Terra dropping from 10k to 5k?! Thats.. not bueno.

Yeah, really don’t know a how and why it dropped by half. Jamie can we get a bit if clarification, if this was an under estimate like pretty much every stay we have seen so far.

And if it is an under estimate i completely understand, considering that every EV launch we have seen the past 10 years have been over estimates and it ruins the entire experience.

I mean maybe that helps make the harvester a somewhat cheaper option as well? Less Towing capability? Or if not a cheaper option then a less expensive add on.

Things that were discussed:
1). Harvester gas tank will be around 15 gallons
2). Lower Harvester towing rating, around 5,000 lbs. This will be a big disappointment for some.
3). The body is steel and aluminum.
4). Air suspension is optional
5). NMC battery for BEV, LFP battery for EREV.

Agreed on item 2- If that’s accurate then I’ll have to stick with a brand that offers a diesel in a half ton truck to allow for acceptable towing capability.

Honestly apart from the towing (which is slightly sad, but at the same time....my desire to tow a trailer is hypothetical right now) I am happy with the news.

A 15 Gal tank means that the harvester will only need to hit 23-24mpg to achieve the 350 mile range (Which sounds super doable).

Air Suspension being optional is huge.

and LFP battery for the EREV is perfect for its use case, allowing it to be charged again and again while being lower cost.

15 gallons is great actually. Air Suspension being optional is awesome because I don’t plan on optioning that in or wanting it for a base suspension.
