SCOUT CONCEPT 9-16-23

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I also like this concept a lot, I can see something like this as a potential entry level model in the future. At this point in time, electric vehicles are still somewhat of a luxury item in most peoples' minds, so of course the first real vehicles will have to be a bit more futuristic (as electric also meant to push things forward, so everyone goes for that futuristic design), but when it's an established brand, just like many others out there, there will be other models occupying different segments, so a smaller, fun and definitely retro looking Scout will make a nice addition to the lineup.

I think in this case since SM is not a new brand the first vehicle out of the gate must be retro, THEN add a more futuristic looking model. Too many enthusiasts want a more retro feeling Scout and I’d be afraid if the first vehicle out was futuristic they’d lose a large segment. Look at the success of the Bronco and now Toyota is “retro-ing” the Land Cruiser.

@J Alynn

It's a fair point. Ideally, a perfect mix of retro and modern styling, plus trusted and reliable technology combined with an advanced electric drive train. That's probably the best way to keep old fans happy, while getting the new EV crowd nterested.

A quick side point. That retro-ing Land Cruiser, are you talking about the Compact Cruise EV? It's definitely an interesting looking concept. Looks like competition in this segment is heating up.

No. Actually Toyota announced a new Land Cruiser that is a touch smaller than last model but similar to a Bronco. Check the Extra,Extra thread on this forum-I think there are several news posts or just search 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. They are offering a retro and a more modern front option (mainly headlight design) but it’s a cool looking suv. No removable roof though so hoping SM capitalizes on that opportunity

They are bringing what is known as the LC Prado, or baby Land Cruiser. the Series LCs will be missed but are just too expensive to import.

I would like to see a modern take on a Scout 800, that is nice and small, really offroadable. and maybe a bigger Travelall 4 door.
