Removable Traveler spare tire mount

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I'd like to see the spare tire mount be easily removable in the event that something longer needs transported and the back of the Traveler needs left open for it. Alternatively, design the back window so it can be flipped up and longer objects can pass though it. The tailgate may need to be taller split above the taillights instead of below. This maybe more ideal for anyone camping/sleeping in the back of the Traveller anyways.

Afaik, both of these are already "things" that we know.

The Spare tire carrier on the traveler is supposed to be removeable/optional, and the upper glass of the liftgate is shown to swing up already.

Will the glass in the upper hatch also open independently ? What if I want to throw in 10 2x4’s that are 12-16’. Can just the glass flip up with hatch and tailgate still in place? Haven’t seen or heard anything specific to this point?

Good question.

I assumed it did, based on some videos from the reveal.

You can see in this one that the upper glass operates independently of the lower tailgate portion.

I don't believe we've been told if we can lock the upper glass at certain angles/positions for driving while it is open (ie, if you want to sort of "clamp" the 2x4x16's you're talking about between the upper glass, and the tailgate), or if it will be driveable with the glass open at all.

I'm hoping the answer to both of those will be "yes", but afaik, that is unconfirmed.

Agree but I was actually wondering if the actual glass in the upper hatch - does that open? Like can the hatch and tailgate both be closed but just the glass open up on its own struts

No idea!

Looking in the video I linked at 8:10-8:15ish, it doesn't LOOK like there are separate struts there, but that doesn't mean they couldn't be there. And also doesn't mean thats what the production version will have.

I'd be a little bit surprised if they have a rear tailgate, rear liftgate, and rear liftglass, as that seems like a lot of parts/complexity. But who knows (other than Jamie, who won't tell us, because NDA and all that :D).
