Porsche And Audi Plan US Production To Avoid Tariffs, Audi May Get Spinoff Scout SUV: Codenamed - Hardcore

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Porsche And Audi Plan US Production To Avoid Tariffs, Audi May Get Spinoff Scout SUV

"...Another option allegedly being considered is for Audi to share production space with VW Group’s new Scout EV at the South Carolina site that’s currently under construction. The story says Audi could get a tough Scout spinoff SUV, currently codenamed “Hardcore,” though it won’t appear until 2028 because Scout is the priority and its first model doesn’t debut until 2027..."

Early on there was a lot of talk that Audi wants the Scout platform and components to build a G-wagon competitor. I’m sure it time that will happen but probably less cool and more $$$

I know I won’t be buying it after seeing photos of it. It looks like the Dakar.

Honestly, I don’t hate it.

This was it
Ohh. Ive never seen that one before. I feel like Toyota Auto Group might come after them over design being close to the Land Cruiser.

But also why are so many brands coming into the OffRoad market, especially the luxury brands. I don't think I've ever seen a G Wagon Off roading, since they are a pavement princess type vehicle.

I hope this is not the case even in 2028. Its hard enough to start a new car company, you don't want any distractions or spreading resources thin. Another lesson Scout can learn from Rivian trying to launch the R1T, R1S and electric delivery van.

And Second the tariff avoidance I think is amazing more companies coming to build in the US, I would like to drive an American made Porsche (if I had the money to maintain it). And it will bring back the old American nature of industry.

I had an Eagle SX/4 for a while. At one point, I got the crazy idea of putting it on a Scout II frame and making a serious off road rig. Did some preliminary research, but never got around to actually moving forward with the project.
