  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Does Tesla not have a night mode or dimmable screen? Maybe you could put it in cleaning mode or some work-around?

100% agree that bright screens are crap at night. It's even worse on a boat. If you run a boat at night, you must be able to dim all lights to run effectively and allow your eyes to adjust to any ambient light to be able to see on the water.

Screen glare is the worst. :poop:

I have to agree that dimmability and maybe even the ability to have the screen go completely dark will be needed. Bright screens at night and in low-light conditions of all sorts are not only annoying, but can definitely be unsafe at times.

While on the subject, hoping to have the ability to extend screens for remote work. Looks like the tray table is already in place.

I agree that the screen needs to be dimmable or have an off mode.

Maybe it would nice if both functions could be controlled via voice commands...

(like other functions of the vehicle?)
I’d be down for that! Based on my experiences in other vehicles’ voice command-ability though I wonder if it might be good for there to be a backup way to adjust it manually as well? Maybe SM will make the Scout systems good enough to not need it though, who knows. :)

The screen in my '23 Silverado is decent sized, and not sure I have ever really desired for it to be off. But it does have a dark mode and the brightness can be turned down some.

But I don't think it would be a bad thing to have it. Just not sure I would often use it.

I’ve had great success using my voice control on Acuras. honda has been pretty decent too. Rarely ever misses a word or command. There are some good systems out there if SM works with the right companies

I love a good voice command. Toyota’s voice commands stink, or at least the older one that I have does. I agree that the screens should be dimmable or have a night mode so your eyes don’t blow out. If it’s showing me something that I actually need to see, dark mode is helpful. If I’m not using it, off is fine. I’m generally always at least glancing at the map or at what’s playing on Sirius XM.

The only decent voice recognition in cars I have experienced are with Alexa Auto or Apple CarPlay... Pretty hard to beat Siri at anything voice. And of course if there is a command handled by SW, then it can be either driven through the U/I, a toggle switch, or Voice... Just a matter of integration.

In all fairness Acura/Honda used Aplay so it’s based on that OS

I was going to suggest this very thing!! ❤️❤️ I was going to also suggest the ability to angle the screen to either driver or passenger seats, with a locked, straight position. My wife these days is always working while we are on the road.

They have a Detox mode that gives a quieter and simpler display with only important info. I think that will work most of times, but most screens have an OFF button as well that gives what you are asking for?
