Landscape Phone Holder/Charger

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I like the design and angle of the dual cellphone charging holders. They look like they will not allow the phones to fly all over the place. But I find it really annoying in vehicles to find a good spot to hold and view a phone in landscape without having to go with some silly aftermarket holder. It would be aewsone if there was a spot to lock a phone down that made the screen visible in landscape mode. The ledge of the dash would be a spot that could hold or imcorporate a spot for a phone. If that spot was inductive or had a usb c that would allow a short cable to plug phone in that would be aewsone. When people use apps or maps they want to be able to see their phones screen in landscape while they drive without cables dangling everywhere.

Presumably your phone will sync and project to the large dash screen. Why would you need to see a map on phone? Also guessing the screen behind steering wheel will be configurable like many new cars so you’ll have it directly in front of you to keep driving safer.
Curious what you would run on phone that wouldn’t mirror to the main UX?
You have me curious

Coming from a 2012 car I didn't know i could mirror my whole screen on newer cars. In that case how about an assignable button to flip/a b between my mirrored phone and another screen like a cars gps as an example.

If screens run as typical you should be able to set the screen in a split combo so one half is gps/navigation and other is apps or music station, etc….
With current tech you should be able to sit your phone in tray and manage things with dash controls or voice commands

I just watched a youtube video that had a good camera angle of the ledge on the left side of the steering wheel and it looks like you could rest a cellphone there. All it needs is a a type c usb close by so we could plug in a short cable. There is also a vent right above it. Please make the vent able to direct cool air onto a cellphone if it was there. There is a bank of 4 switches below the ledge. So power is close by. I can imagine using the phone to view a blutooth feed of a remote magnet camera to see anywhere you mount it on the truck. That would be cool.

A dash mounting rail system might be a nice alternative for those that want their phone higher and in landscape mode.
There will be one

There's nothing I hate more than a cluttered cockpit. I love that Scout will support ACP and AA, and that we will simply have mirroring. I miss that in my R1T with ACP, and I still run WAZE on my phone in the background so I can get alerts through the sound system. It's not ideal, but works.

In terms of phone placement, I would love to see a manufacturer think about BOTH the driver and the passenger and create a split diagonal slot on a 45 degree angle in the center of the truck between the driver and passenger... 1 of the slots faces the driver diagonally, and 1 of the slots faces the passenger diagonally. This would be integrated into the top of the console. The angle would also prevent phones from flying forward when braking hard, AND it would direct the screen toward the eyes of either the driver or the passenger. Not sure I have seen any OEM do this. The space between the two slots could be a small angled storage bin.

Bullet Point makes some great mounts
