Front Bench Seat

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Including a front bench seat in the new scouts (even if it is only an option) seems like a great idea. It’s made additionally practical in the Scout by their flat floors (no transmission tunnel). Including one would bring total passengers up to 6, a sensible addition that might also serve to draw potential customers from larger and more expensive 3 row SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Also, it’s just plain cool, and fits in perfectly with Scout’s message of a car that harkens back to an earlier time. The front seat could even be a fold down type, where it can turn into an armrest when not being used (it could snap into place, so it doesn’t fall down when someone is sitting there or get pushed up by accident). The seatbelt could be the type where it retracts into the ceiling, so it isn’t a nuisance when the seat isn’t up. Overall, I think a front bench seat is a really worthwhile addition to the new Scouts.

I know our 08 Silverado has one of the flip up seats that can also be an arm rest. They are pretty nice, though back then they didn't think about having a top that can close on the seat so every time you want to use it as a seat you have to clear out the little cubby or lose everything into the back seats lol. Folding center console would be cool, doubt they'll have something like that for these first ones but might be an interesting accessory or addition to the release model or later models.

I’d say definitely have the option for the integrated center console.

I never buy trucks without it, no need for 6 seats.
Same here. I need the storage space way more than the seats. Also, from the pictures it appears they designed a truck with no cup holders, which would be a dealbreaker for me.

Luckily everyone will have the option of either. I like my Chevy where the console folds up if needed, but honestly I havent used that but maybe 3-4 times. Their console design to me looks way more useful for most days. Also, I did talk with the interior designer there and asked where the wireless chargers are located in the bench seat model. He showed me they are located in the middle, lower portion of the dash.

Personally, I hope they design the front bench seat to be comfortable no matter where your bum is placed, even over the seams where the bench will hopefully flip up for under seat storage and where the backrest folds down for some semblance of a center consol/arm rest.

It has been said that the bench seat option will fold down and have cup holders in it, the prototype at the reveal just didn't have that.

I have to admit - saying it is for your dog was marketing genius. I had to take my dog to the groomer today - I felt guilty the whole trip as he struggled to find a comfortable position on the bucket seat (I would have never thought about it before the mention in the reveal) - generally either giving up and hanging his head down to the floorboard or trying to find a decent spot on the center console to lay it.

I remember the good old days, camping with my dog in the truck - driving with his head on my lap (abet always fearing he would raise it and hit the gear selector).
