Cloth seats

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I strongly dislike leather seats, and especially dislike plastic leather substitute. Please, (PLEASE) make cloth seating an option (even in the higher end trims). I will pay extra if that’s the only way.

I’m convinced that nobody actually prefers leather, they just tell themselves they do because it comes with the higher trims by default.

My 2012 Power Wagon had cloth seats, and they were fantastic! There’s been many times I’d like to have those seats in my truck now. It would be cool to be able to order the options you wanted, and not be forced into leather.

Having had cloth and leather I’d take leather any day. Easy to clean and the leather in the traveler prototype is like the leather on my favorite chair at home. No issue with a cloth option but can’t assume everyone wants full cloth. The traveler seats were a mix and best I’ve ever seen for a vehicle interior

If my only choices were cloth and leather, I'd choose leather.

Heaven forbid it be white like the concepts, but I can at least wipe/clean it without specialty equipment.

I'm conflicted.

Almost every vehicle my family or I have ever owned, has had cloth seats. Same with all of our furniture. And honestly, I agree with lots of what has been said. Cloth seats aren't sticky/hot in the heat, and they aren't clammy/cold when its freezing outside. They also don't crack, or tear. And the modern cloth I have in my Hyundai is really easy to clean as well.

The only vehicle I've ever had with leather, is my ZJ, which has... 28yr old mopar leather seats, which are disintegrating. But I also know that modern leather is softer/less plastic-y/less "sticky" than it was before.

I don't like cloth seats, my wife's old car had cloth seats and they got ruined with stains from our dogs. The leather or faux leather seats can be just wiped down and look good as new again. We do tend to use dog covers but sometimes dirt still gets through. Same for any general spillages etc.

I'd be good with either cloth or leather or vinyl. The most important thing to me is ease of cleaning so I can get in with dirty pants and easily wipe off.

As someone who details as a hobby, leather or vinyl is better in 99% of situations as long as it’s properly cared for, the issue becomes when you don’t care for it, it cracks and fades.

Leather is easier to clean, doesn’t hold scents / odors like cloth and overall looks more premium in almost 100% of the implementations.

Fine if they offer cloth, but I disagree 100% with you that it will chosen over leather in most cases.
