Canada Reservation Holder’s

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I'm hoping that due to the location in South Carolina, some consideration will be given to including at least 1 Ontario location at rollout. This will play heavily into ordering. There's no novelty factor at play for me. These are just options in a marketplace. We'll see how that plays out.

Rivian has a SC within an hour of me. They would have to match that or better with at least work begun on a location.

Reserved both at reveal.

Which one did you reserve ?
Terra without Harvester. Its 2 years out, I am not holding my breath as to the end product. I had a reservation for the Lightning but was really disappointed at the final Canadian cost and the lack of range for the price.

Reserved sat Oct 26. Terra with harvester. Langley BC Canada. The harvester is what made me take the leap towards a ev truck. I expect 90% of my driving will be ev only but there are many places in the backcountry of bc where I need to utilize the energy density of gasoline and then I can also extend my boondock ability using the car as my mobile power bank.

Awesome. Check out posts by @RebelliousPeasant. He’s a fellow Canadian and very active on the forum. I harrass him a lot because he’s from Canada but one of my favorite places to visit new cities and his input and humor are both appreciated-I’ve learned a lot from his posts. Not getting political but one way or another in our election you may see a huge influx of southerners🤣. Just want to get to know you all in case you end up being my neighbor 🤣

Yes, I’ve reached out to them and they’re saying they will have a first edition model for early reservation holders. I think we should be good in terms of material used. The only thing is the final price point

I can only presume you won't be able to buy one in Canada till the 2 SC's are available in 2028. So good luck with a first edition model.
Yeah, it’s possible we’ll be same as what happened with Rivian. However, since VW is behind Scout. I would imagine they’ll be much more organized compared to Rivian and launch either both market at the same time or with minimal gap between the two market.

I am mentally prepared for the harvester model being sold for $120k in Canada. I have reserved the traveler. Also since young people can never buy a house in Canada, I will buy this and travel through North America :)

According to this, it might be the big 3 locations in Canada but no specifics on whether that will be timed with USA openings or not so difficult to get excited for a launch edition. No SC = no ability to buy, I'm presuming. I also doubt Canadians will be able to buy direct from the factory like the USA probably will. Hopefully Scout will be transparent and provide more information when available so we can make decisions accordingly. It would be great if we were able to participate in buying vehicles at launch though likely a cost for doing so. I just have my doubts at this early stage and based on how other MFG's have done things. I don't know how much say VW Group would have in such decisions. Even in the USA, it's not like a switch will be flipped and suddenly the lights come on at every SC simultaneously.

I'm in a minority as a pure BEV fan. The Terra BEV will be a much harder sell to me than harvester models to others given the available competition for each. Which makes me wonder if Scout hasn't missed an opportunity by not including Alberta in their initial rollout. One reservation tracker currently has 20 in BC, 13 in ON, 5 in AB and 2 in QC. Those that chose EV only: 3 in ON, 1 in AB. Overall, EV is currently 17.9% on this tracker but in Canada only 9.75%. Low sample size but makes sense given our much smaller and urban dense charging infrastructure.

Reservations were made based partly on the announced pricing. If these end up in the $120k CAD price range, I could see at least 50% of people cancelling.

I see your points here, as a member near Ottawa I am hoping that we are able to buy from launch even if servicing might be an issue for the first little bit.

In terms of pricing, 60k USD is already $83,500 after conversion. I'm seriously hoping we can squeeze out one like the ones showed off for under 100k to avoid Trudeau's stupid luxury tax. That will definitely sway my purchase.

Thank you for mentioning luxury tax. I almost forgot about this.

For any future readers, if the top variant is marked $ 120K cad, then we will end up paying $ 4K in additional luxury tax

The lesser of:
(1) 10% of the taxable amount of the vehicle = $12K
2) 20% of the amount above the price threshold($100K). = 20% of 120K - 100K = 20% of 20K = $4K

So I guess I am getting the base variant then :(
