Blythewood Community Event

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Scout held a nice community event in Blythewood three days this week. I attended the Saturday event, today. There was a 20-ish minute presentation, followed by casual question and answer mingling afterwards. Both the Terra and Traveler prototypes were on display. What follows is an attempt to share the experience, for those unable to attend. Note that I am not a photographer, nor a videographer, nor a comfortable mingle-r, but I thought the impressions and captured photons might be of interest.

The construction site is impressively massive.

Impressions of the vehicles

Static images really don't convey the subtleties of their lines. Both have a very athletic stance, but also have some very elegant curves and design details that really come out while moving around them. I was impressed from photos, but even more so in person.

Random tidbits from speaking with folks

  • Low voltage architecture will be 12V, not 48V
  • Not certain where 12V battery will be located, but though the frunks are power-up, the frunk latches will be fully mechanical, so frunk should be fully accessible even when low-voltage battery is dead, which could make that an easily accessible spot, should the packaging work out.
  • Compass is a fluid-filled floating magnetic compass
    • not certain if the outer ring will have any adjustment to compensate for true north, but should be possible
  • Design intent is to keep the molle panels affixed to the front seats, though there will likely need to be significant changes to the latching mechanisms in order to pass crash testing
    • backup plan would be to relocate those to the bottom of the fold-up rear seats
  • Molle panels affixed to the rear seats have a latching mechanism so that they are always fully captured, so should keep things firmly in place
  • Expect to have at least two test mules (for each model), possibly up to three, during design stages stepping to the final production iteration
  • Despite SC H.3777 being on ice for the current legislative session, SC government partners that were present said they had not heard that Scout has yet "given up" or indicated they do not plan to continue with developing the User Experience Center at the site. Note that this was coming from SC government partners, not Scout. However, those folks did intimate that no one expected the current bill to get very far, and seemed to be implying that it was a kind of trial balloon to see what changes legislators were seeking for the next revision to the legislation, likely for next year's session.

Impression of the People of Scout

Everyone was incredibly friendly, well-informed, and clearly passionate about their role in the company, and seeing these visions to fruition. Very thankful that they were kind enough to speak with me for such a long time, and to host this event!

Oh, and one more juicy tidbit I forgot to include. When someone asked "what color did you pre-order" and an attendee responded that nothing like that is up yet, a Scout employee said something along the lines of: if you pre-ordered be on the lookout for a communication soon on that front that you should enjoy.
Thanks for the updates.
Now that you have also had the pleasure of seeing in person-you probably get a lot of the points we’ve tried to make since being g at the reveal. They are so much more impressive in person and it’s hard to explain that to people. You did a great job with pics and some of the discussions you heard. Glad you made the trek to see it as you likely have a much higher regard for the designs than you could’ve imagined before seeing it in person.
Overall-just an amazing vehicle(s)

That I can’t wait for that email!

Also yet again, beautifully crafted concept vehicles. I feel like I say this every time they are posted.

If there's an event similar to this near you, I highly recommend going if you can.

I also forgot to mention another tidbit I learned speaking with a nice lady from Scout's crisis management and security (i.e. protector of the prototypes): the slide out trays in the front are not laptop trays. They are in fact chicken nuggie trays, and she's hard at work lobbying the design team to incorporate a dipping sauce holder. 😀

Just curious but did they ask you if they could copy and paste your post here:

Nope. No contact of any kind, and I am not a member of that forum.

Ive done some post on there, i normally quote the person who work it is which its normally articles and power phrases. I stopped reporting there probably a few weeks ago when i heard they are the most “reliable” source.

They steal a lot of stuff from here and they are being called the most reliable source for ScoutMotors news.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors are you cheating on us and posting the most up to date/reliable info on their forum 🤣

Although you said you aren’t a photographer or videographer I Love the photos you took! Look forward to seeing them in person at some point… hopefully at Electrify Expo 👀

Thanks for the kind words.

I did also hear that the prototypes' next stop is back to Michigan for filming in a television show, but didn't manage to ferret out any other future locations. Hopefully they'll be on a grand tour crisscrossing the country.
