360 camera

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Per the engineer I spoke with, a front camera is already in place and 360 views are in the works. In the studio area, a front camera display illustration on show which captured the terrain ahead.
Thanks for the inside intel. That sounds great.
Did the engineer speak about the overall dimensions of either vehicle. 91" wide seems pretty big for a trail ready rig.

The Rear view Camera should have an option to spray wash wiper fluid to "clean" the camera from debris or rain drops. Have a 360 view helps with not just trail view but also for parking and Sentry (like in Tesla and Rivian)

I like this idea of something that cleans the camera lens because nothings bugs me more on a rainy day when I try to back up and see that I can’t see. Wiper fluid shouldn’t go on a car’s camera lens, though: the chemicals are too harsh. Something that better protects the lens from getting crapped up by debris might be more helpful.

I test drove the VW ID.4 and VW puts a protective cover (glass?) over the actual camera lens so that lens is protected by the chemicals. I also test drove a VW GTI and how VW hides the reverse camera under the emblem can be a problem because it is just another mechanical device that break. Plus it does not help or work well with 360 view.

Absolutely yes, upvote added. Glad to hear 360 and front cameras are in the works. Hopefully they can be used for parking, trail, while in motion, tie into turn signals (if selected by user - again, let us customize), while towing, dash cam, security/sentry/monitoring, etc. as well. Not just single-use cameras.

I’m still curious where back up camera ends up on the traveler with the optional wheel carrier. I’m sure they have it figured out-probably just above the license plate indent

I have a squirter for my 2017 Land Rover reverse camera. It still works fine. 80K miles, rocky mountain salt/snow/road dirt, off-road dust...totally fine.

This one is deal breaker for me. Totally addicted to 360 cameras. But maybe that’s just with a full size truck.

@J Alynn I saw this just the other day at the grocery store. Wonder if it gets the view out far enough to make it useful when hooking up a trailer?

But what if buyer doesn't choose tire carrier option . Wondering if a snap in, plug and play option fixes this dilemma. If tire carrier is hooked up (even just for weekend outting) camera is "snapped" in to something simular to attached photo. No tire carrier installed then camera is "snapped" into a base on the tailgate.
