1973 Scout II restored in mid 90s with LS swap and mild restoration in 2019.
Tell us about your Scout:
I purchased this truck in 2005 to be able to haul friends and gear to rock climbing areas that needed 4WD to access. It came with a 345 V8 with dual exhaust, what looked like glasspack mufflers and sounded as loud, transmission cooler, CA custom license plate and a photo album of a previous restoration done in what appears to be the mid 90s when the original glacier blue was repainted with Brittany Blue Iridescent, paint code 6773. I managed a few trips including New Jack City and Valley of the Moon before life intervened, I left the truck parked in my garage for a few years and then had a consistent series of problems keeping it running. Not only was it beyond my skills to fix, I was not even able to find a mechanic who could keep it reliably running.
So, in 2019 I sent it to Anything Scout in Iowa and had an engine and transmission swap done as well as various suspension and driveability repairs and new upholstery which is sourced from SMS auto fabrics and is period appropriate but I don't know which manufacturer used this particular fabric. Now I am once again able to take it on adventures and have taken it to Panamint Valley, Joshua Tree NP and Idyllwild CA. I hope to sometime be able to take it on a grand tour of classic climbing areas in the desert southwest and pacific northwest.
The truck's original in service date is late 1972, so it is a similar age to Brad Paisley.
I'm having trouble uploading photos, so here are some instagram links instead
