Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. You can also come back and modify or add to your registry entry at any time.

    Also, please upload photos if you have them. You can also embed the photos into your story that you create so that people can see larger versions.

One of less than 500 built. I nicknamed the Burnished Gold 'Goldies'. We know there were 1,975 total SR-2s built (according to a product planning document) but we don't have a breakdown of Red vs Gold. The original intent was for up to about 2,500 total (if enough orders came), 2,000 to be Red and 500 to be Gold. There is a record of SR-2 powertrain production, with 1,407 being V8s, 567 sixes and one four cylinder (the pilot model). I am keeping a database of sorts on these things, so if you have a VIN or LST to share, I'd be happy to add it and, in the case of the LST, comment more if there ar unusual aspects to the build.

Hi Jim, I believe you already have my VIN on your list, but if not it is: G414782. I've ordered an LST from SSS, but do not have it yet. Door tag shows build date of 6-70.

Only thing potentially unusual on my build is the back seat. Truck does not have one and the mat in the back does not have holes for one. Waiting to see what the LST says.

It is missing the original 232 and BW auto, so I plan on replacing it with a 258 and 727 auto out of a Scout II.
 
I’m mainly into IH Pickups but I purchased this 1970 800A SR-2, two years ago, that was from Georgia. Neither I or the previous owner knew it was a SR-2 because it had been painted with industrial enamel paint, before he had it, they painted over all the stripes. I didn’t know much about the 800 Scouts when I got it but I was kinda curious why the gauge bezel and glove box door were gold in color? After I owned this Scout for a year and a half, I took it to the Harvester Homecoming, 2024. A gentleman approached me at the show and was looking the Scout over. He told me it was a gold SR-2. I had no idea what that meant. After I returned from the show, I did some sanding on the rockers and the hood to see if the stripes were still there. Sure enough, all of the stripes were still there. I did a search on the VIN# 782887GH11868 and it is a true SR-2. It still has the B&W automatic but the 304 was swapped out for a 345. There is not a rust hole in this Scout anywhere. I added a IHPA power steering kit because I could barely turn the steering wheel with the manual gear box. It has a soft top, I guess it could of been a soft top, from my research? It didn’t have doors when I got it, but I love it that way. Does anyone know how many of these gold ones are still in existence?

Hi Toad- And another Goldie has emerged from the mist! I think the VIN you listed has a typo. Should be six numbers and the "H" you have listed is incorrect and is probably a '4'. Except for one prototype, no producion SR-2s were built with soft tops. The LST will answer all the original parts questions you might have and if you want to do a little forensics, you should find the top mounting holes in the bed rail. As to surviving numbers of Goldies, it's impossible to say with certainty. I have about 15 survivors listed but while I have a total number of SR-2's built (1,975), the numbers are not broken down by color, only by powertrain. Judging by the survivors, the majority built were red. y educated estimate is that a max of about 3-400 Goldies were built. I'd be surprised if a hundred have survived but adding yours to the list, once I have the correct VIN, will help me keep track.

Lonchair- I didn't have it on my list but have added it. If it was built without a back seat, that would be the only one I know about because a rear seat was part of the SR-2 package. It would be theoretically possible to delete the rear seat and that would show on the LST. If it does, I would be VERY interested to see that LST!!! By now, you must have the LST, eh?

UPDATE: I have solved the mystery. It’s the VIN tag that has the typo. I cleaned the frame off where the VIN is and presto, there is no H, it is a 4.
