  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    No Spare Tire on Tailgate!

How about no spare and no air? In 2023 it seems like we might be able to go airless military grade tires? I hate air in tires although I get airing down off-road is ideal…crack the nut of heat dissipation for airless and you would have a winner while running with more surface area (like aired...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Some other thoughts and perhaps this isn’t the right place but this made me think: The “heritage” package (post above) I think is a driver to most folks that buy. For example when people think Jeep they don’t see a stock wrangler…they see something lifted with big tires and no top…this is free...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

My two cents are if you offer packages to have a “heritage” package that is the removable top, factory moderately aggressive lift, carpet delete, rain resistant interior, perhaps more minimal electronics with what digital displays used mimic heritage or retro design. Then to have other more...

    What If?

Man, something I have wanted for years (in every car I own) is an integrated front sun screen or cellular shade when parked. I know the windscreen curves, but I am sure there is a way to make it happen (and even manually deployable would be ok if regs block it being auto for safety reasons)…like...

The problem with false floors in EVs

No EV in the family yet, but my three VW suvs have “false floors” and I wish the access doors were split 3/4 on the width of the trunk with the 3 also opening the remainder. Sometimes you just need a little access to get something you keep on the side (that way you don’t need to unload stuff)...

    Learn from the Bronco

My 2007 Touareg has real leather and my 2008 has synthetic or whatever. The real has a nice smell while the other can be cleaned. Our 2019 Atlas has fabric… in fact we got the “S” (base model but with VR6, 4Motion and hitch BECAUSE it had fabric. However the fabric is cheap feeling…where did...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

@Rustic_father None taken, I am pro EV but as an analyst for nearly 20 years I often play devils advocate and I get what you are saying. My point really is only to say it would be nice to have pre-fabricated mounts, wiring or Scout infrastructure to add or mod with a generator of some kind-not...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

Different parts of the US have varying infrastructure and population. Here in Oregon I remember as a kid my parents took a drive one lazy afternoon into the logging trails in the mountains between the outskirts of a suburb to Portland and the coast…this entire area is referred to as the...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

The crowds would go nuts if VW’s answer to an EV was to put a diesel in it 😂 I hear what you are saying though and myself even mentioned this in another thread. Some want something factory done all the way (like what you are hinting at), but I am of the mindset that everything be prepped for...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

A time travel to 1885 with a gas powered DMC DeLorean could pose a refill problem after an arrow punctures your fuel tank…I myself never really thought much about how getting fuel at the advent of the automobile (from French I guess meaning self-moving) was…after thousands of years of horses and...

But the original Scout that explored America was gasoline powered.

Hi Carboy57, Going to honest, I have never driven an electric vehicle-but people that do love them (so I read) so they must have good torque and takeoff. I also get where you are coming from, and yes regulations are driving much of this…however I also think electric vehicles are worth...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Just reading through these: Didn’t see lateral or longitudinal tilt listed: can be nice off-road. Steering angle and altitude are also available on my Touareg and I have used them before. On connectivity: my old Touareg uses the satellite GPS I believe because it knows where I am when my phone...

    Forum / Site Suggestion

Hi guys, yes a way to either jump to the last page or any specific page…sometimes threads get LONG and I might be reading through them and get interrupted and when I want to go back to my place it is nice to have a way to do that. Here is the Link to the example I pasted above. When you go...

    Buttons vs screens

Yeah, I have owned my older 2007 Touareg 3.6 VR6 longer than I have been married (12 years) and have taken my wife to hospital for each of our four kids in in. I love that thing gotten me home in some NASTY weather. The 4 wheel drive is amazing in that thing and the lighter motor is better...

    Buttons vs screens

It might not be fair as I have been driving the same vehicle for 14 years and truly know where everything is by touch. I will tell a brief story of when I needed this: I was out doing inspections on some properties and got took a wrong turn and needed to turn around. This was a fairly urban...
