  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

Therein lies the rub. Running everything through one computer leaves it vulnerable, while running things through multiple computers leaves things with bus-based communication issues on occasion. Proper logic circuits and redundancies for critical systems will be too expensive for general...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Tesla managed some exceptions in a number of states before legislatures caught on. My Rivian R1S delivery is on indefinite hold because they can't deliver or have service centers in NC. Some earlier deliveries were made in NC, but have since stopped at last check. Friggin' politicians...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Back to the dealership idea- I bought one of the first MINI Coopers when they came back to the US, and MINI really did it right. They started off in a corner of one of the local BMW dealerships and within 2 years had built their own. During that time, the community involvement was...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

I was promised reliability in EVs compared to ICE. The problem with most EVs seems to be the software, like most every computer, phone, app, etc. If you're going all in on software, core components of the EV drive system NEED to have failsafe modes/systems like an airplane. Give them limp...

    Manual Transmission

Yeah, I've driven several EVs, and like automatics before them, I find them boring and appliance-like. Maybe I just haven't driven one with any character yet. Assuredly quick, but boring. I completely agree with you in opposition to anything that just simulates a manual transmission. In the...

    Manual Transmission

I support the idea of being more involved in driving somehow. All of my vehicles are manuals, and I enjoy them for the involvement they provide, despite being slower than their automatic counterparts. ALL automatic vehicles I've driven are desperately boring to drive to me. Tesla? Boring...

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

My first thought was the suspension seats in the 70-series Land Cruiser. Put the driver's weight to work for you!

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

4Runner- big enough for a few adults in the back, but small enough to fit the trails and parking lots with ease.

I'd prefer cloth, but if we're going leather, I'll take leather from nothing but the finest, grain-fed vegans. Cows work too. I like cows.

Looks like an empty slot in the bottom right. Don't be tempted Scout!

    Daily Driver Comforts

I'm going all-in here. Power windows, power locks. That's about it for me. A radio isn't needed if you give me space to install an aftermarket unit.

    Buttons vs screens

My main request is to consider safety first when designing these integrations. Mazda is one of the few companies that gets this. I shouldn't have to take my eyes off the road to do ANYTHING related to driving or driving comfort. Lighting, HVAC, wipers, basic radio functions, cruise control...

    Axles

If they're going IFS, give us a unique long-travel design with in-wheel motors, unencumbered by CVs and their inherent limitations.

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

A 2-door is more about utility than passenger space, so why not keep a typical transmission tunnel layout and fill it with stacked batteries? This allows the standard skateboard battery (albeit a shorter one) below, with secondary capacity in the tunnel. Still allows for four full seats...
