  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

Only advantage RFID adds is less time to perform handshake. Not really needed, but can make the process work faster. Example: your VIN is read as you drive into the area and a charger is prepped for your arrival, can even direct you to open charger based on your needs. We have "fast" chargers...

    Head light and tailight

Here is the debate on glass vs poly carbonate (plastic) - impact resistance and dangerous debris. The plastic lenses on modern vehicles are safer such that there is much lower incident of shards becoming hazards. Glass lenses will more often break into sharp pieces that fall off to become danger...

    Honda Ridgeline 2 way tailgate

How about Dodge Ram 2 way tail gate? Or Chevy multi open tailgate? And do those both work with 4Runner style roll down rear window? Jason

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

From a technical stand point you could have a RFID in the Scout logo for a variety of reasons, including this one. The RFID would hold the VIN of the Scout, nothing more. But in the app the VIN is connected to the owner. So by "tapping" the Scout logo you use NFT (like Andriod/iPhone...

    Information on hiring process

I got denied for a servicability engineering position. I guess there were better candidates than a 20year master tech for validating service procedures? Everything else so far looks like a managerial position, or needs a 4 year degree. Oh well. :( Jason

    Information on hiring process

Uh, stupid question. The link you provided goes to HR site that requires you to log in. But there is no way to sign up for an account. How do applicants get an account set up they can view and apply for open positions? Jason

Are EV's scared to embrace the option to upgrade your car?

Taking a cue from Jeep Wrangler I would suggest modular assist systems to facilitate bumper options. OOOOORRRRR....Have factory bumper options. ;) Lane Assist camera looks thru windshield and some companies such as Mitsubishi and Subaru use this camera for ACC and front assist functions while...

Scout EV - OS Feature - Driver Incapacitated/Medical Emergency Protocol

No worries - I just don't like full control take over because of how many hackers or "bad actors" could abuse that access. Unless the car can do this completely on it's own (unlikely anytime soon from what I have seen) and has safe guards to prevent malicious code from being introduced. You're...

Scout EV - OS Feature - Driver Incapacitated/Medical Emergency Protocol

NO! This is the same slippery slope as FBI wanting access to terrorist's cell phone. Once a back door is provided you have to "trust" those with access to not abuse it. Put this in relevance of the car driving to hospital - hackers proved the vulnerability of Chrysler's Uconnect system by...

    Ideas for the scout pickup

I am a battery repair tech with VW - most time consuming part of removing ID4 battery is all the safety stuff to make sure we don't accidentally kill ourselves (same as why charging the car is so complicated, but that's another story). 2 coolant quick connects, 4 electrical connectors that...

    Head light and tailight

Has nobody realized that some of those "LED" headlamps are actually laser? BMW and Audi have been playing around with those. Main advantage is light steering - you can put light only where you want/need it and not just flood light down the road. Also opens up to e-Tron from Audi that user can...

    Community Tour

@Chris@ScoutMotors - Coming down to SoFlo anytime soon? I would love to see some Scout love down here as well. I'm in the interesting position of owning a Scout II (4th one) and being a VW Master Technician (also HVT/battery repair). It would be a dream to work with the team on getting the...

    Transfer Case

I actually think a 2 speed transmission would be ideal for the off road aspect of Scouts. Buuuuuut $$$ mean unless they make an offroad specific model that cost a lot more (like a Ford Raptor?) I don't see this happening for that reason. And I would really love it if the made REAL locking...

Scout EV - Plug-n-Play interface (Infotainment Idea)

I think OP was asking for a built in way for adding and customizing the vehicle. Some sort of plug and play way to add a winch, or snow plow, or set up offroad preferences beyond factory settings for steering and braking response. Also a basic tool kit/ universal way to upfit for certain jobs...

    Trailer / Towing Discussion

I like the "Jerry can" battery idea. Works exactly like you would expect. Getting low on range? Plug in the Jerry Can to top up. For the record a full Jerry Can ain't light. Better for back country travel rather than longer tow range - see next idea. Some ingenious trailer builders are...
