  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

It's the Scouts who answer the call...

Ah, I stand corrected on that. I would have expected it to posted in New Media, or at least a new thread of its own. In any case, yes, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, and so on play on sentimental emotions, but they made their great products and didn't just go out and buy the name to misappropriate its...

It's the Scouts who answer the call...

Or just a company that buys the name and uses it in sentimental and patriotic marketing BS. Seriously, even Scout Motors is too embarrassed of this latest video to post it here. So here it is:

    Does Scout own Scouts??

Yea, that's a really good question, especially when that feel-good marketing video made such a big deal of how this was "America's next shot", and how the Scout will be "chock full of American ingenuity." At the same time, I don't wish to be a troll here either. I'm sure the engineering and...

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

As long as we're in the "anything goes" mode, why not in-wheel motors? Off the top of my head, I can envision some advantages: * True 4WD with individual control of power/torque delivered * Off-road traction maximisation based on weight distribution and slippage * On-road traction maximisation...

    A Tall Order

Yeah, I'm sure the designers have a modular approach in mind. The Bronco and Wrangler are direct competitors, but they have the advantage of ICE. More directly, the competition is the EV Hummer, but that costs over $100k and weighs in at 9,000 pounds. It is probably the most off-road capable EV...

    A Tall Order

I don't mean to be a curmudgeon here. VW is a major global force in automotive manufacturing, and they do have the means to create a wonderful vehicle. No matter what the result though, there will be a group that doesn't like it. That's why it is such a tall order to build a new product that...

    A Tall Order

If I were to try to consolidate all the suggestions and ideas I've seen here to this point, the main theme would be: "Make the new Scout like our old beloved Scout." While this is indicative of a true love and passion for the classic Scout, it is of course impossible, impractical, and not...
