  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Please please please steal from the historic VW paint colour palette!!! I posted a while ago some vintage colours found on some VW Beetles and Buses at a local car meetup, like the Avocado green, Harvest Gold, Cobalt Blue, and Maroon type colours. A two-tone scheme with white or cream would be...

    Toggle Switches?

I recently watched a video about the Ineos Grenadier (https://ineosgrenadier.com/en/ca/the-vehicle/the-grenadier) and while it's way out of my price range it has some features and ideas I'd love to see Scout borrow if possible, specifically big chunky switches that can be operated by winter...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

Vehicles have been putting on weight for years before EVs even entered the scene. Modern off-roaders like the Wrangler and Bronco are WAY heavier now than their previous iterations and it has nothing to do with powertrains. Heck, the most popular Wrangler today is significantly larger and has...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

Oh there are definitely people still saying Toyota was wrong to stick with hybrid. Anyone paying attention has serious concerns about Toyota's viability going forward as they don't seem to be taking EVs seriously enough. Don't believe the hype and spin, Toyota is losing market share in some very...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

If you want to have a fossil vehicle Toyota will have you covered right up until they go bankrupt sometime in the next decade or so. Scout is starting new and is correct to clean sheet a modern 21st century vehicle. Like it or not the future is electric. Scout would be foolish to tie a...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

It says it right in the article - salt water. Salt water is corrosive. There's a big difference between fording water and a vehicle being drowned in salt water from a hurricane. ICE vehicles don't fare well after being drowned in salt water either. If you want to really get into it we can talk...

    Not a fan

And for the record, EV sales are not "tanking" as many would try and have you believe... (sources linked below). Same thing happening here in Canada but we're over 10% of new car sales being EV here and on track for 15% of new vehicles in 2024 so we're about a year ahead of the US on the...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to. Electric vehicles don't need air intakes and the batteries and everything are already waterproof so the main limiting factor for any EV in water is usually buoyancy. Lots of videos online of Teslas and other EVs driving down flooded streets just fine and...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

Electric cars are a lot farther along than you seem to think. Charging times are shorter than a restroom stop - usually about 15 mins for me ( and I typically do other stuff like eat or use the washroom while the car does a fast-charge), actual range has been equivalent to a 'tank of gas' for...

    Is EV demand really tanking?

I disagree. PHEV's are a bridge technology and will be a waste of money and resources for Scout at this point. Scout will be production constrained for years after launch so a pure EV play will be fine. There will be enough demand from people looking for EV off-roaders that Scout will be able to...

Not sure about the all electric I prefer gasoline

Electric drive is the future and superior to gas power in many important ways. I understand that it's new and unknown for many people which causes concern and trepidation but gas vehicles are on the way out just like steam locomotives and horses before them. Scout would be foolish trying to...

Realistic EV Range Degradation and Prediction?

In my experience living in Canada where winter temps get down to as low as -40 on some days the range can drop by as much as half - HOWEVER - that is only on the coldest of days where the thermometer is below -30C! Normal winter performance when temps are between -10C and -20C the range hit is...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

There is no way the Recon will have a 500 mile range. The platform is capable of vehicles with 'up to' 500 mile ranges but if you read the fine print it would be an aerodynamic sedan. The Recon is a brick. Expect it to get around 250 miles of range when it comes out. If it's less than that I'd...

    Battery Chemistry

I'm not holding my breath for solid state. There are a lot of practical engineering challenges yet to be solved with it and people talk about it like it's a holy grail but some of the limitations with solid state currently include fragility (the solid electrolyte literally can fracture and break...
