  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

After buying direct through Rivian, I would have a hard time gong back to a dealership. The fleecing, bait and switch, sales manager games, paperwork hassles, and worst of all, the added fees like "Dealer Adjustments" for new cars ain't bringing a whole lot of "excitement" to the buying process...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

I'm guessing a Shacket is the same as a Jackshirt. Just placed an order!

    Starting the Scout

Yes, as mentioned in my previous post above, I also have 2 key cards. Phones being charged is rarely an issue, and once you are in your vehicle, you phone can charge wirelessly, or via USB-C: Rivian achieved this with 4 different key types for my R1T: 1. App 2. Carabiner Key Fob (terrible...

    Starting the Scout

The entire key for Scout here (IMHO) is enabling the optimal driver experience, which means "needing to do as little as possible" to get in your truck and then drive away. Adding friction to a process that doesn't require friction tends not to work well. Would you rather tap to pay, or pull out...

    Starting the Scout

You don't really have to "start" an EV (it will just need to have a handshake with the driver & be awakened if in a sleep state or camp mode) a toggle, switch, key, or anything physical will just be a back-up for your the Scout app. Rivian achieved this with 4 different key types for my R1T...

    Seating thoughts

The range to price ratio was awful. Probably drove very badly when on-road, but you would have looked good in that while chasing foxes along the stonewalls of your billion-dollar country estate.

    General EV Ideas

As far as tires go... I've been really happy with the ride and handling of the R1T, which is heavy on both snows and AT's. And the collab with Pirelli for the AT Scorpions delivered a solid tire that gets me almost 300 miles of range in decent WX conditions. I am actually swapping out my Snows...

    2025 Toyota 4-runner reveal

Totally agree - too much going on for me, and seems like just more of the same for this model. They nailed the exterior, interior and shape with the new Landcruiser, but this seems to be a sidestep. And it is a Toyota, which in my experience has been a laggard, and has mediocre service, which...

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

I am guessing that there are privacy concerns and probably some need to "opt-in" - such that each owner would need to opt-in to have some sort of duck-like virtual interaction, but what do I know? All I know is that that sort of tech (either through the app or RFID or some other means) would...

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

This can all happen from the vehicle's mobile app without RFID (assuming Scout will have a mobile app, which they will), and if you have a loaded payment credential inside the app or your account, charging can be initiated by simply plugging in. The app communicates with the vehicle, can be used...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Imploding Fisker tried to go down the rabbit hole with an affiliate / franchise type model - not going so well there. I would not want to see that, and since VW is already invested, I don't see that happening. I could see VW using SM as a testbed for future changes to their own dealer and...

    Dealerships Are Dying

In my view, this is no different than Nike selling its sneakers directly through the Nike app, and Nikeslowly moving away from a wholesale / middle man model to a direct model. These type of direct to consumer models benefitted incredibly from COVID, but it was merely an acceleration of what was...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Gotta say, after going direct with my R1T purchase through Rivian, and essentially buying my truck, insuring it, and trading in my old truck (all online) there is a LOT to be said for that model!!! At the end of the day, and using this model, everything is seamless and transparent, and it is...

    Duck, Duck......Scout?

Almost everyone in a Rivian waves back to each other. I think it is more in recognition that you took a chance on something new and something different, and that you understand that the driver in the other vehicle probably went through the same thought process in acquiring a new vehicle from a...
