  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

I’ve not heard of any EVs that don’t have regen. Some of them don’t have one pedal driving, with regen happening when you hit the brake pedal, or a few have a specific regen paddle (e.g. Chevy bolt). Typically it would use as much regen as the system can handle before engaging the physical...

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

Yes, I’ve tried several times and I really, really dislike it. It’s like driving a manual stuck in first gear. I’ve driven hybrids with decent blended braking for 20 years, dunno why Tesla couldn’t get that to work. One pedal is really completely orthogonal to regen. You can use regen just...

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

One of my biggest pet peeves is folks conflating “regenerative braking” with “one pedal driving”. Regen just means recapturing some of your kinetic energy and using it to slow down the car and slightly recharge the batteries. This can be triggered in many ways, including by tapping the brake...

    Starting the Scout

When things aren’t working, it’s important to have a physical key backup, eg hyundai/kia vehicles have a problem keeping their 12V batteries charged, when they die you need a physical key to get in the car so you can open the hood to access the 12V battery so you can charge it to turn it on...

    Starting the Scout

Maybe a code, like pull the choke, pump the accelerator 3 times, turn the switch for exactly 2.7s, then you have 4s to push the choke back in or the whole car reboots and you have to start all over 🤣

    Seating thoughts

Heating the seat is generally more efficient than heating the cabin, so if you want to extend your range, you want to make good use of the seat heating so you don’t need as much cabin heating.

Scout CEO says he'll have real buttons

The link is a little broken, I think this one works - https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/ditch-the-touchscreen-reborn-brand-bets-on-electric-vans-with-real-buttons/ar-BB1jcLoS But real reason I’m here is - “vans”? Is msn saying that scout is making vans?!? Let’s get that rumor mill spinning 😂😂😂

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I’m ok with voice as an option as long as I don’t have to use it. I’ve never experienced one that was any good, and even if it was I don’t particularly like talking to a computer, especially if I’m also talking to a real person. “I’m hot” “You can open a window if you want” “No I was talking...

    Head light and tailight

It would sure be nice to have something that’s easy to replace, like those linked headlights, instead of everything being customized and requiring specialized installation/repair.

    Rivian R2

Like Porsche rep said, I like one pedal braking. Ie there are a lot of good implementations of blended braking (like in the hybrids I’ve driven for nearly 2 decades) so you can still smoothly coast, slowdown gently or abruptly all the while getting regen without thinking about it, without...

    Rivian R2

Love a lot of things about Rivian, but lack of buttons and forced one pedal driving are pretty much deal breakers for me. Very excited that Scott Keogh made clear that there will be buttons and door handles, now just holding out for flexibility in the regen department (I think Kia/hyundai have...

Silly ideas sometimes inspire good ones, let's hear yours

So glad you spoke up, that’s a really valuable perspective! If Scout comes up with a vehicle like you’re describing, I’d be very tempted by it.
