  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    A Tall Order

Most EVs have batteries that are fairly easily swapped at a service center. They are sort of build like a skateboard. If you are talking swap it at home or take it with you camping without the truck. The truck EV batteries are 2k to >3k lbs. how are you going to move the battery? The...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have a new suggestion. Garmin app. So you can use a Garmin watch as the key.

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

Tires that poke out beyond the wheel wells are completely pointless on an off road rig. They widen it, trash the paint, limit travel, can change scrub radius,…. They are entirely for looks. Keep the tires in the wheel wells where they belong.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have rented cars with CarPlay and the Google similar and don’t see the point of all the fuss. Yes it works, but isn’t life changing or anything I couldn’t live without. Didn’t really do anything my iPhone connected via Bluetooth to my 2013 LX570 doesn’t do.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

The awnings May only weight ~50 lbs but the safari base racks (front runner, prinsu, ARB,…) are more like ~60-70 lbs. so to attach the bat wing to the truck is an additional >100 lbs. A few things with solar panels. They give rated output only when the sun is at a 90 degree angle to the...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

An awning like that in solar would weight at least 350-400 lbs more than the fabric one. So at least 500 lbs.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I turned off auto signal and lane departure warning on my 2018 model 3 in the settings options. My 2013 Lexus LX had buttons to turn on/off almost all the nanny’s. For an off roader being able to turn off parking sensors is a must.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have solar in Alaska, 3 months of dark…. And I’m ~2500 miles further north than you…. My ROI was 7 years.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Ok so I’m going to go the other direction. I believe with EV, hybrid, or ICEs electronics (computers, wiring harnesses,…) are going to be the death of most modern vehicles way before more mechanical failures like: engine, transmission, gears, EV motor, batteries, …. So less is more, things...

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

Likes: reliability, smooth supple suspension with plenty of articulation and down travel. 33” tires as minimum OEM with ability to fit 34-35’s stock. Flat cargo floor with ability to remove 2nd and 3rd row, relatively easy trail repairs (like tie rods,…), No glass roof, ability to easily use...

What do you want in an off-road spec

Air suspension is a novelty and sucks off road. Why? When you increase the height you increase the spring rate therefor stiffening the suspension and losing articulation…. Air needs sag for compliance. In most off road situations articulation is at least as important as clearance. I would...

What do you want in an off-road spec

With current trend of big rims it is critical it has the Ability to fit a 17/18” rim over the brakes. And able to fit a 34” tire stock would be great. Without these 2 things skid plates, ground clearance, …. Is all pointless.

Rivian MTGarage article in latest Motortrend

I’m in Alaska and have had a Tesla for going on 9 years up here (4 with an S, now going on 5 years with a 3). A few things do the OP EVs are more a victim to external forces. Going up hill, headwinds, snow covered roads,…. This is due to how efficient they are. My current truck (LX570) is...

    A Tall Order

I would consider driving on the beach off roading. Where we subsistence fish salmon it is a ~6 mile drive over the beach, cross the dunes and glacial sand from there, it is not easy off roading.
