  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Not sure if anyone has brought it up yet but an easy way to add limb risers without having to drill holes would be amazing.

    Mazda Rotary Range Extender

But why use a Mazda wankel, when they can grab from the VW parts bin and get something like the small 1.2 or even the slightly larger 1.8 which is known for reliability and still the same weight as the Mazda wankel without having to pay Mazda royalties

    Mazda Rotary Range Extender

Historically mazda rotary engines arent the most reliable

This makes me feel funny things in my no no square

    Axles

Though it wouldn’t be too hard to make a retrofit kit for a standard axle. Something that bolts onto the diff cover bolt holes then goes over the axle and holds a motor with the output shaft facing the u joint of the diff

    Axles

Limiting wheel speed could be an advantage (could be done other ways) but I know that there are times I don’t necessarily need 4 low for traction but like it to limit speed in sketchy situations

    Powertrain Wants

My house is only wired for 110 (I know it’s weird) so with as much driving as I do Theres no way I could fully charge over night

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I LOVED my touareg. If you made something as awesome as the original TOuareg (before it turned into a minivan) Id be first in line

Beam beam. Preferably something based off a standard axle that mounts a motor to the diff cover bolts, so that you can use standard readily available parts should you need to do a repair in BFE

    Axles

A lot of companies are doing retrofits where the motor mounts straight to the pumpkin

    Powertrain Wants

If they made something like the edison logging semis but in a more compact form Id be in love

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I specifically want the ancient solid axle on my 4x4. More flex normally, more durable, simpler system if you need to fix something on a trail.

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

On that topic Id love it if the calipers were small enough to fit 16.5s as a lot of people run humvee tires on their rigs

Please dont do what everyone else does and put a dial for different environments that change how the vehicle behaves. Let my foot do the work. Theres a magic that disappears when youre offroading and the cars computer is doing all the work
