  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

    Sorry to EV-splain you
  2. Bodie

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

The benefit of regen is using generators to slow the car while putting energy back into the battery pack instead of friction brakes that just produce heat. This extends the electric range of the vehicle. Engine braking (downshifting) is more efficient than friction brakes by saving a tiny bit of...

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

Actually, if you’re hands are 10 and 2, you wouldn’t be able to use the paddles which are at 3 and 9. I am usually 1 hand at 8 or 4 with my index finger resting on one of the paddles.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

I like the implementation on my Cadillac ELR (PHEV). In “D” it has very mild regen when you lift off the accelerator, allowing the car to coast. It has paddles on the back of the steering wheel like shifter paddles but when you squeeze either one, it engages full regen. The shifter also has “L”...

    MAX RANGE

For everyone clamoring for ridiculous 400-450 mile ranges, how much do you expect to pay? More miles = lots more $$$. Looking at a couple of similar, currently available vehicles, here's what you get: F-150 Lightning 240 mi - contractor version - $63K to start 320 mi - 3 trims with starting...

    EV sales dropping in Europe

I read that as EV subsidies are going down so sales are going down- well, duh. Price/value will always drive demand. A subsidy (tax credit) will create some amount of demand. I wouldn’t have bought my current car without the $9k of federal and state tax credits/refund I got.

    Is it a Scout?

    Definitely a Bronco

    2025 Toyota 4-runner reveal

I believe I heard "Standard part-time 4WD " in the video. Totally agree on the trim levels. Same with Bronco. It ends up being very frustrating because I'll end up wanting a vehicle that I can't configure even though all the options exist, just not in the same trim level. Things like this...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Frameless windows like Bronco or easily removeable doors like Jeep and Bronco. I would give up frameless windows for a less obtrusive/bulky roll cage than Bronco. I know it has to have one to pass safety standards but I would like it to be as traditional looking (steel tube) and as thin tube...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

The title of this article is an example of the problem. VW is NOT reviving Scout, VW Group is. The marketing problem is higher than Scout Motors. It would be so much better if VW group was called anything else. Call it Porsche group, Audi group, or if you want to be nostalgic, Auto Union. For...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I hate mission and vision statements. SM’s mission is the same as every other company in a capitalist system- make money. They do need a cohesive and consistent marketing message to be able to do that by launching Scout as a brand. They need to make it clear that they didn’t “just buy the name”...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

My money says the author drives a Tesla and loves it. Teslas don't interest me at all from a design standpoint. Their charging network though is the gold standard. I will say that this is one of the better researched, factual articles when it comes to Scout's relationship with VW. I think...

    Rivian R2

Rivian also has some good colors I like their blue and green.

    Rivian R2

The R2 size and overall proportions look ok to me but without a removable roof, I have no interest. The windshield has too much rake. Hate the C-pillar. Like the roll down rear window and interior materials. Rivian’s exterior aesthetic is just too bland for me, especially in white. It’s like a...
